Optimization of xylanase production by Thermomyces lanuginosus in tomato seed meal using response surface methodology

open access: yes, 2006
A 32 central composite experimental design was performed with the aim of optimizing xylanase production by Thermomyces lanuginosus grown on corn cobs in submerged cultures.

Estimation of agricultural flood irrigation water consumption in the Heihe River Basin, China, using satellite based daily land surface evapotranspiration and soil moisture

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies
Study region: The Heihe River Basin, China. Study focus: Irrigation data are often from census surveys at coarse administrative or river basin scale, and as such, the amount of water used for agricultural irrigation difficult to quantify.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Surface heat flux parameterization and the response of ocean general circulation models to high-latitude freshening [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A global ocean general circulation model (OGCM) is forced using mixed boundary conditions (i.e. a restoring condition on the upper level temperature but using a fixed, specified surface salt flux).

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

High-resolution hot-film measurement of surface heat flux to an impinging jet

open access: yes, 2011
To investigate the complex coupling between surface heat transfer and local fluid velocity in convective heat transfer, advanced techniques are required to measure the surface heat flux at high spatial and temporal resolution.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

An algorithm for generating response surface split-plot designs

open access: yes, 2012
M.PhilIn an industrial experiment, the presence of hard-to-change factors may force the experimenter to use a split-plot type experimental structure. The corresponding Response Surface model then is a linear mixed model. Different design methodologies

A Spatial-Temporal Seamless Evapotranspiration Product Based on TSEB-SM Model and DNN-ETo Method Across China

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Accurate, seamless products of evapotranspiration (ET) are crucial for understanding the hydrological and energy cycles. Currently, there is no routinely available daily ET product based on the thermal infrared satellite data and two-source energy ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
