Propolis phenolic compounds extraction using response surface methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Propolis is a complex resinous substance prepared by bees (as, Apis mellifera) using compounds collected from plants, buds and exudates, which are then mixed with wax, pollen and enzymes ofbees' saliva [1, 2].

Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Time, the final frontier

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This article advocates integrating temporal dynamics into cancer research. Rather than relying on static snapshots, researchers should increasingly consider adopting dynamic methods—such as live imaging, temporal omics, and liquid biopsies—to track how tumors evolve over time.

Minimizing surface roughness and back wall dross for fiber laser micro-cutting on AISI 316 L tubes using response surface methodology

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
A response surface methodology (RSM) was performed to study the influence of spot overlapping and pulse energy on back wall dross and surface roughness for fiber laser cutting of AISI 316 L stainless steel minitubes.

Optimization of Yeast Protein Extraction through a Combined Enzymatic and High-Pressure Homogenization Method

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
Yeasts have a very high content of protein; therefore, they could be used as an easy source of protein. [...]

Robust Optimization in Simulation: Taguchi and Response Surface Methodology [PDF]

open access: yes
Optimization of simulated systems is tackled by many methods, but most methods assume known environments. This article, however, develops a 'robust' methodology for uncertain environments.

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Utilization of Response Surface Methodology in Optimization of Extraction of Plant Materials

open access: yes, 2018
Experimental design plays an important role in several areas of science and industry. Experimentation is an application of treatments applied to experimental units and is then part of a scientific method based on the measurement of one or more responses.

Early metastasis is characterized by Gr1+ cell dysregulation and is inhibited by immunomodulatory nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.
