Zero-inflated generalized Poisson models with regression effects on the mean, dispersion and zero-inflation level applied to patent outsourcing rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This paper focuses on an extension of zero-inflated generalized Poisson (ZIGP) regression models for count data. We discuss generalized Poisson (GP) models where dispersion is modelled by an additional model parameter.

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Consistency of Restricted Maximum Likelihood Estimators in High-Dimensional Kernel Linear Mixed-Effects Models with Applications in Estimating Genetic Heritability

open access: yesMathematics
Restricted maximum likelihood (REML) estimators are commonly used to obtain unbiased estimators for the variance components in linear mixed models. In modern applications, particularly in genomic studies, the dimension of the design matrix with respect ...

Does the Acknowledgement of αS1-Casein Genotype Affect the Estimation of Genetic Parameters and Prediction of Breeding Values for Milk Yield and Composition Quality-Related Traits in Murciano-Granadina?

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
A total of 2090 lactation records for 710 Murciano-Granadina goats were collected during the years 2005−2016 and analyzed to investigate the influence of the αS1-CN genotype on milk yield and components (protein, fat, and dry matter).

Maximum Likelihood Estimation of the I(2) Model under Linear Restrictions [PDF]

open access: yesEconometrics, 2017
Estimation of the I(2) cointegrated vector autoregressive (CVAR) model is considered. Without further restrictions, estimation of the I(1) model is by reduced-rank regression (Anderson (1951)). Maximum likelihood estimation of I(2) models, on the other hand, always requires iteration.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Nonparametric estimation of concave production technologies by entropic methods [PDF]

open access: yes
An econometric methodology is developed for nonparametric estimation of concave production technologies. The methodology, bases on the priciple of maximum likelihood, uses entropic distance and concvex programming techniques to estimate production ...

Biases of the restricted maximum likelihood estimators for ARMA processes with polynomial time trend

open access: yes, 2017
In order to estimate autoregressive moving average models with a general polynomial time trend, the restricted or residual likelihood is considered. The autoregressive moving average parameter estimator maximizing the restricted likelihood has shown to ...
