Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Fatigue Damage Mechanism-Based Dependent Modeling With Stochastic Degradation and Random Shocks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper proposes a dependent modeling method for reliability estimation of metal structures under constant amplitude loading and random shocks considering the nonlinear damage accumulation mechanism.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Study on the performance of nanoparticle-modified PVDF membrane in delaying membrane aging

open access: yesOpen Chemistry
With an emphasis on improving the membrane’s long-term durability and filtering efficiency, this study examines how well nanoparticle-modified polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes perform in postponing membrane aging.

Evaluation of tooth physiological characteristics based on PS-OCT

open access: yesJournal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences
Accurate and early evaluation of dental physiological characteristics is essential for effective disease detection and management. Polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography (PS-OCT) is a noninvasive high-resolution imaging technique that can ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Influences of flocculant and retarder on solidification efficiency of cement in treatment of dredged mud slurry

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
It is usually necessary to build a working platform on the surface of the dumping site of dredged mud slurry for the purpose of rapid improvement of the dumping site so as to shorten the period of land occupation.
