Reticulocyte hemoglobin content
Clinica Chimica Acta, 2020Iron deficiency leads to the suppression of hemoglobin (Hb) synthesis and induces metabolic disorders. In contrast, iron overload not only reduces the iron utilization efficiency but also induces oxidative stress. Iron metabolism in the body is closely regulated by hepcidin, a short peptide produced by the liver.

Transferrin-reticulocyte cycle time in rat reticulocytes
Blut, 1990The uptake and release of 131I-labelled diferric transferrin by rat reticulocytes was examined both in vitro and in vivo. Cycle time in vitro was estimated to be 2.5 min in iron-deficient reticulocytes and 2.3 min in phenylhydrazine-produced reticulocytes.

DNA polymerase has been isolated from the cytoplasm of several mammalian tissues as well as several cell lines in culture1–8. This has been puzzling because DNA replication and repair are processes generally believed to be restricted to the nucleus, where chromatin is located.

Maturation of rabbit reticulocytes: Degradation of specific reticulocyte proteins
Developmental Biology, 1975Abstract As analyzed by polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis, rabbit reticulocyte cytoplasm contains, in addition to globin, seven predominant polypeptides. The amounts of these range from 0.1 to 1.2% of globin. Rabbit erythrocytes contain only three of these nonglobin polypeptides.

Flow Cytometric Reticulocyte Analysis and the Reticulocyte Maturity Index
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1993Reticulocyte analysis has evolved to one of the accepted and routinely practiced clinical applications of flow cytometry technology. Similar to CD4 measurements, FCM technology has contributed to documented improvements in reticulocyte counting precision over previous microscope-based techniques.

Pig reticulocytes: II. Characterization of density-fractionated maturing reticulocytes
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1976A simple centrifugation technique initially developed for fractionation of human red cells in their own plasma has been found to be readily applicable to the separation of reticulocytes normally appearing in the pig soon after birth as well as to those induced in the adult pig by phenylhydrazine administration.
