Multi‐Targeting Ligands as Prospective Therapeutics for Alzheimer's Disease, a Prevalent Neurodegenerative Disorder: Mechanistic Insights, Emerging Targets and Drug Discovery Campaigns

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 46, Issue 4, Page 1173-1229, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a debilitating neurodegenerative condition characterized by progressive cognitive impairment, memory deterioration, and neuronal dysfunction. Its complex pathophysiology involves multiple interlinked processes, including amyloid‐β (Aβ) aggregation, tau hyperphosphorylation, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation ...

Agreement between ganglion cell‐inner plexiform layer metrics from widefield optical coherence tomography and Goldmann II, III, and V in glaucoma

open access: yesOptometry and Vision Science, Volume 103, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To compare concordance between ganglion cell‐inner plexiform layer metrics acquired using widefield optical coherence tomography (OCT) and visual function assessed using Goldmann (G) II, III, and V stimulus sizes, in turn evaluating the role of spatial summation properties in binary classification of visual field (VF) results.

Humanin Mitigates Aβ‐Induced Retinal Pigment Epithelium Injury via AMPK‐Beclin1‐Dependent Mitophagy

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2026.
Humanin (HN) enhanced the clearance of Aβ‐accumulated mitochondria in the RPE while preserving retinal function and RPE barrier integrity. HN activated AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK), leading to phosphorylation of ULK1 and Beclin1, which promoted the interaction between Beclin1 and Parkin and their translocation to mitochondria.

Engineering Extracellular Vesicles for Anti‐Aging Therapy: Mechanisms, Applications, and Perspectives

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2026.
This review systematically elucidates the multifactorial anti‐aging mechanisms of extracellular vesicles (EVs). By bridging fundamental biology with advanced bioengineering, scalable manufacturing, and clinical translation, it establishes a comprehensive framework for developing next‐generation EVs‐based precision nanotherapeutics to combat systemic ...

The technical and practical implementation of fundus photography in equids

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 38, Issue 7, Page 371-381, July 2026.
Summary Background Fundus photography is an important diagnostic tool in human and veterinary medicine. Advances in research are increasing its accessibility in human medicine. However, there is a lack of studies on modern fundus photography in animals, particularly in horses. Objectives To assess the use of a portable fundus camera developed for human
