Causal association between circulating leukocyte characteristics and diabetic retinopathy based on two‐sample Mendelian randomization

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
A schematic representation of the two‐sample Mendelian randomization framework used to investigate the causal association between circulating leukocyte traits and diabetic retinopathy. ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Leukocytes are implicated in the inflammatory cascades of diabetic retinopathy (DR), but their causal roles remain ambiguous.

Reconstruction of deep and perforating corneal defects in dogs—A review (Part I/III): Autogenous ocular tissues, donor tissues, and corneal clarity scoring

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 519-531, March 2025.
Abstract Corneal reconstruction is a key part of veterinary ophthalmic practice and numerous reconstructive techniques have been described for use in small animals in the peer‐reviewed veterinary literature written in English. Despite the evidence accrued over the last six decades in over 40 clinical articles and numerous other publications on ocular ...

The roles of macrophage migration inhibitory factor in retinal diseases

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), a multifunctional cytokine, is secreted by various cells and participates in inflammatory reactions, including innate and adaptive immunity. There are some evidences that MIF is involved in many vitreoretinal

Intraocular Osseous Metaplasia in Norfolk Black Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo): Clinicopathological Characterization of a Rare Avian Condition

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Osseous metaplasia is a rare condition characterized by abnormal bone growth in soft tissues. Although documented in mammals, intraocular osseous metaplasia is uncommon in avian species and has been poorly characterized in turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo).

Canonical and non‐canonical functions of proteins regulating mitochondrial dynamics in mammalian physiology

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

Atypical p38 Kinase Signaling in Retinal Vascular Damage and Recovery

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 24, 31 December 2025.
Using an oxygen‐induced retinopathy model, we demonstrate that Tab1‐dependent atypical p38 activation contributes to retinal vascular injury. Genetic blockade of this pathway protects against pathological neovascularization by modulating transcriptional programs.

Comparison of the Effects of the Pattern Scan and Conventional Single Spot Panretinal Photocoagulation in Patients with Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy; A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2016
Background: The retinal laser photocoagulation is the gold standard treatment of the proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Nowadays, we can perform panretinal photocoagulation with single spot or pattern scan laser methods.
