Coordination of IFT20 With Other IFT Components Is Required for Ciliogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Intraflagellar transport is a bidirectional transport system essential for ciliogenesis. Using the IFT20 knockout cell lines established in this study, we found that IFT20 deficiency significantly impaired ciliogenesis and reduced cilium length. Further investigation revealed that IFT20 interacted with other IFT proteins and regulated their levels and ...

Familial polyposis syndrome and achalasia in a young adult

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract We report the case of a 19‐year‐old White male diagnosed with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), Gardner's syndrome (GS) phenotype, status post total colectomy, who developed progressive dysphagia and weight loss. He was diagnosed with achalasia based on imaging and esophageal manometry.

Sustained and rebound effect of repeated low‐level red‐light therapy on myopia control: A 2‐year post‐trial follow‐up study

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, Volume 50, Issue 9, Page 1013-1024, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background To evaluate the long‐term efficacy and safety of continued repeated low‐level red‐light (RLRL) therapy on myopia control over 2 years, and the potential rebound effect after treatment cessation. Methods The Chinese myopic children who originally completed the one‐year randomised controlled trial were enrolled.

Optic Disc Pallor in Parkinson's Disease: A UK Biobank Study

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Recent studies have suggested that retinal changes measured with optical coherence tomography are detectable in early Parkinson's disease (PD), highlighting the potential of ophthalmic biomarkers for diagnosis and monitoring. Objective We set out to investigate the relationship between optic disc pallor measured in fundoscopy images

Ophthalmic imaging in diabetic retinopathy: A review

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, Volume 50, Issue 9, Page 1082-1096, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Retinal imaging has been a key tool in the diagnosis, evaluation, management and documentation of diabetic retinopathy (DR) and diabetic macular oedema (DMO) for many decades. Imaging technologies have rapidly evolved over the last few decades, yielding images with higher resolution and contrast with less time, effort and invasiveness.

The Hsp90β Isoform: An Attractive Target for Drug Development

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The beta isoform of 90 kDa heat shock protein (Hsp90β) plays a critical role in maintaining cellular proteostasis by assisting in the folding and refolding of proteins, which is essential for both normal cellular function and stress response.

Metabolic Deregulation of the Blood-Outer Retinal Barrier in Retinitis Pigmentosa

open access: yesCell Reports, 2019
Summary: Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) initiates with diminished rod photoreceptor function, causing peripheral and night-time vision loss. However, subsequent loss of cone function and high-resolution daylight and color vision is most debilitating.
