Causal Effects of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus on Chronic Periodontitis and the Mediating Role of Oxidative Stress: Evidence From Mendelian Randomization and Mediation Analysis

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with an increased risk of chronic periodontitis, but genetic evidence and oxidative stress‐related pathways remain unclear. Objective This study assessed the genetically inferred association between T2DM and chronic periodontitis, evaluated oxidative stress biomarkers as potential ...

Maternal nutrition as a key determinant of placental and developing blood–brain barrier xenobiotic protective functions

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Suboptimal maternal nutrition alters placental and developing blood–brain barrier (BBB) protective function and is associated with increased fetal brain vulnerability. In the placenta, nutritional adversity may reduce the exchange surface area and promote meta‐inflammation, compromising barrier efficiency in a model‐ and context ...

Regulation by FSH of the dynamic expression of retinol-binding protein 4 in the mouse ovary

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2018
Background Ovarian retinoid homeostasis plays an important role in the physiological function of the ovary. Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) acts as the mediator for the systemic and intercellular transport of retinol and is heavily involved in cellular ...

Sustainable replacement of fishmeal with Artemia biomass in diets for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 6, December 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the effects of substituting fishmeal with Artemia biomass in aquaculture diets on growth performance and whole‐body composition of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Four dietary treatments were administered in triplicate to juvenile Nile tilapia (44 g) stocked in 1m3 cages in a pond at 30 fish per cage for 84 days. The

Retinol-binding protein 4 downregulation during osteogenesis and its localization to non-endocytic vesicles in human cranial suture mesenchymal cells suggest a novel tissue function

open access: yes, 2013
Craniosynostosis is a developmental disorder of the skull arising from premature bony fusion of cranial sutures, the sites of skull bone growth. In a recent gene microarray study, we demonstrated that retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) was the most highly ...

Single‐Cell Integration of Mouse Models of Autism Reveals Conserved Transcriptomic Signatures of Excitatory‐Inhibitory Imbalance and Glial Dysfunction

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 12, December 2026.
Integrated scRNA‐seq from 11 ASD models reveals convergent E/I imbalance and glial dysfunction. Conserved astrocyte and oligodendrocyte dysregulation transcend model‐specific variability. Validated by human datasets. ABSTRACT The etiological heterogeneity of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) complicates identifying core molecular mechanisms.

Plasma retinol transport and clearance in hypervitaminosis A.

open access: yesJournal of dairy science, 1979
Effects of mild and severe hypervitaminosis A on retinol transport and clearance were studied in mature ewes. Excessive vitamin A intake was assoicated with high concentrations of vitamin A in plasma and liver, with elevated serum enzymes, with decreased feed consumption and packed cell volume, and with epithelial hyperplasia.

Müller Glia Subtypes Define Neuro‐Glial Associations and Spatial Morphogen Axes in the Zebrafish Retina

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 11, November 2026.
Zebrafish Müller glia are heterogeneous in the early larval retina. Zebrafish Müller glia subtypes define a spatial axis of retinoic acid metabolism. Neuron‐associated glial programs identified in Zebrafish Müller glia are evolutionarily conserved in mammals. ABSTRACT Müller glia are instrumental macroglia of the vertebrate retina, once thought to be a

Structure-function relationships of the retinol-binding protein receptor, STRA6

open access: yes, 2011
Retinol (Vitamin A) and its derivatives are essential in a wide range of biological processes, from embryonic growth and development, to the correct functioning of the adult brain, spanning almost all vertebrate organ systems. Retinol transport in plasma

Oxidation of Allylic Alcohols by Manganese Oxides: Elucidating the Influences of MnOx Structure and Mn Oxidation State on Reactivity

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 39, 22 October 2026.
Manganese oxides (MnOX) of different structures and with different Mn oxidation states exhibit significant variation in their reactivity toward the oxidation of allylic alcohols. Using two allylic alcohol model substrates, we demonstrate the relationship between activity and MnOX structure, Mn4+ content and incorporated secondary cations.
