Natural Plant Alkaloid (Emetine) Inhibits HIV-1 Replication by Interfering with Reverse Transcriptase Activity

open access: yesMolecules, 2015
Ipecac alkaloids are secondary metabolites produced in the medicinal plant Psychotria ipecacuanha. Emetine is the main alkaloid of ipecac and one of the active compounds in syrup of Ipecac with emetic property. Here we evaluated emetine’s potential as an

Extracellular Vesicle‐Transferred ATP‐Citrate Lyase Induces Monocyte Differentiation Toward Tumor‐Associated Macrophages and Fuels Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) enrich the metabolic enzyme ATP‐citrate lyase (ACLY). EV‐transferred ACLY enhances palmitate biosynthesis, increases the S‐palmitoylation and stability of multiple immune checkpoint proteins, augments the cellular immunosuppressive activity, and ultimately accelerates the malignant ...

Reverse Transcriptase Jumps and Gaps

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1996
Introduction. Retroviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses of eukaryotes. Different subfamilies have been described. Avian or murine oncoviruses induce neoplasms, whereas lentiviruses, typified by human immunodeficiency virus and spumaviruses, produce persistent infections.

Enhancing CAR‐T Cell Efficacy in Solid Tumors by Inhibiting CCL5/VEGF‐Mediated Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that CAR‐T cells in solid tumors produce CCL5, which paradoxically induces VEGF and angiogenesis to promote tumor growth. Blocking CCL5/VEGF signaling—through gene knockout, or the CCR5 inhibitor maraviroc—significantly enhances the antitumor efficacy of CAR‑T therapy (the diagram was created in Biorender).

Drogas anti-VIH: passado, presente e perspectivas futuras Drugs anti-HIV: past, present and future perspectives

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2003
Currently available anti-HIV drugs can be classified into three categories: nucleoside analogue reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs) and protease inhibitors (PIs).

Full-Length cDNA Synthesis for Long-Distance RT-PCR of Large mRNA Transcripts

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2003
Reverse transcription of mRNA often leads to the synthesis of partial, non-fulllength cDNAs. Methods to facilitate reverse transcription across RNA regions of secondary structure, as well as enzyme modifications to eliminate RNase H activities inherent ...

Reverse transcriptase

open access: yes, 2023
Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na reverzní transkriptázu. Na úvodu jsou popsány nukleové kyseliny. Následně se práce zabývá centrálním dogmatem a reverzní transkripcí. Nejvíce se práce věnuje využití reverzní transkriptázy v molekulární biologii, konkrétně
