A new inhibitor of the transcription–termination factor Rho

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2003
In this study we describe BI-K0058, a new inhibitor of the transcription-termination factor Rho belonging to a different chemical class from bicyclomycin, the only known antibiotic acting on Rho. BI-K0058 inhibits the poly(C)-dependent ATPase activity of Rho with an IC(50) of 25 microM as well as in vitro transcription-termination of two natural ...

Rho exchange factors in the cardiovascular system

Current Opinion in Pharmacology, 2008
Increasing evidence has accumulated to implicate overactivation of Rho protein as a common component for the pathogenesis of several cardiovascular disorders including hypertension, coronary and cerebral vasospasm, atherosclerosis, and diabetes. Recent advances in Rho protein signaling research indicate that the Rho exchange factors (Rho GEFs) which ...

The p75 receptor acts as a displacement factor that releases Rho from Rho-GDI

Nature Neuroscience, 2003
The neurotrophin receptor p75(NTR) is involved in the regulation of axonal elongation by neurotrophins as well as several myelin components, including Nogo, myelin-associated glycoprotein (MAG) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (OMgp). Neurotrophins stimulate neurite outgrowth by inhibiting Rho activity, whereas myelin-derived proteins activate ...

QCD factorizations in gamma* gamma* -> rho rho

2006
We calculate the lowest order QCD amplitude, i.e. the quark exchange contribution, to the forward production amplitude of a pair of longitudinally polarized $ρ$ mesons in the scattering of two virtual photons $γ^*(Q_1) γ^*(Q_2) \to ρ^0_L ρ^0_L$. We show that the scattering amplitude simultaneously factorizes in two quite different ways: the part with ...

Autogenous regulation of transcription termination factor Rho

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1985
We present evidence that the transcription termination factor Rho is autogenously regulated in Escherichia coli. The steady-state level of Rho is increased approximately tenfold in rho mutant cells. In the rho+ revertants, the content of Rho is similar to the wild-type level. A rho-/rho+ merodiploid produces equimolar amounts of the mutant and the wild-
