Functional plasticity of antibacterial EndoU toxins. [PDF]
Bacteria use several different secretion systems to deliver toxic EndoU ribonucleases into neighboring cells. Here, we present the first structure of a prokaryotic EndoU toxin in complex with its cognate immunity protein.

Structure and evolution of barley powdery mildew effector candidates
Background Protein effectors of pathogenicity are instrumental in modulating host immunity and disease resistance. The powdery mildew pathogen of grasses Blumeria graminis causes one of the most important diseases of cereal crops. B.

Drosophila tRNAs hyperprocessed in vitro by ribonuclease P [PDF]
In transposon copia-related retrovirus-like particles of Drosophila, a 5' half fragment produced by the cleavage of mature initiator methionine tRNA is used as the primer for minus-strand reverse transcription. This cleavage is called hyperprocessing. We have previously reported that the catalytic RNA subunit of RNase P catalyzes this hyperprocessing ...

A DIA‐MS‐based proteomics analysis of serum samples from GB patients and healthy controls showed that high levels of IL1R2 and low levels of CRTAC1 and HRG in serum are associated with poor survival outcomes for GB patients. These circulating proteins could serve as biomarkers for the prediction of outcome in patients with GB.

Understanding diversity of human innate immunity receptors: analysis of surface features of leucine-rich repeat domains in NLRs and TLRs. [PDF]
BackgroundThe human innate immune system uses a system of extracellular Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and intracellular Nod-like receptors (NLRs) to match the appropriate level of immune response to the level of threat from the current environment.

Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

A possible mechanism for cold denaturation of proteins at high pressure [PDF]
We study cold denaturation of proteins at high pressures. Using multicanonical Monte Carlo simulations of a model protein in a water bath, we investigate the effect of water density fluctuations on protein stability. We find that above the pressure where

Isolation and Characterization of a Novel Pathogenesis-Related Protein Gene (GmPRP) with Induced Expression in Soybean (Glycine max) during Infection with Phytophthora sojae. [PDF]
Pathogenesis-related proteins (PR proteins) play crucial roles in the plant defense system. A novel PRP gene was isolated from highly resistant soybean infected with Phytophthora sojae (P.

Small extracellular vesicles are a promising source of diagnostic molecules. We conducted a comprehensive study, including transcriptome profiling and RT‐qPCR validation on large cohorts of samples. Diagnostic panels enabling sensitive detection of colorectal cancer and precancerous lesions were established. Some molecules were differentially expressed
