The Multiple Substrate Recognition Properties of Ribonuclease P [PDF]
Ribonuclease P is an essential enzyme that is responsible for catalyzing the 5’end maturation of transfer RNA. In Bacteria, the RNase P holoenzyme is composed of a large RNA (∼400nt) and a smaller (∼100aa) protein. RNase P RNA contains the enzyme active site and interacts with tRNA; however, the protein subunit is essential in vivo because it binds the

Possible role of human ribonuclease dicer in the regulation of R loops
R loops play an important role in regulating key cellular processes such as replication, transcription, centromere stabilization, or control of telomere length. However, the unscheduled accumulation of R loops can cause many diseases, including cancer, and neurodegenerative or inflammatory disorders. Interestingly, accumulating data indicate a possible

DNA-based S-genotyping of Japanese plum and pluot cultivars to clarify incompatibility relationships [PDF]
Diploid japanese plum (Prunus salicina Lindl.) cultivars are commonly self-incompatible. To date, 14 incompatibility alleles (S-alleles) have been identified and labeled with alphabetical (S-a-S-n) and 5 with numeric codes (S-1, S-3-S-6).

Analysis of the regulation of undecaprenyl diphosphate dephosphorylation in Escherichia coli
BacA, PgpB, and YbjG phosphatases are involved in undecaprenyl phosphate (C55P) synthesis in Escherichia coli. We analyzed the lipid contents and the gene expression in the gene‐disruption strains. Undecaprenyl diphosphate (C55PP) level increased in the bacA, ybjG double‐disruption strain, but C55P levels were similar in all strains.

Antibodies in human serum that precipitate ribonuclease P. [PDF]
Sera from certain patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and related rheumatic diseases contain antibodies that selectively deplete extracts of HeLa cells of RNase P activity. Most of the sera that recognize RNase P, an endoribonuclease with an essential RNA subunit, also contain antibodies against another small ribonucleoprotein known as the

Ribonuclease P: unity and diversity in a tRNA processing ribozyme.
Ribonuclease P (RNase P) is the endoribonuclease that generates the mature 5'-ends of tRNA by removal of the 5'-leader elements of precursor-tRNAs. This enzyme has been characterized from representatives of all three domains of life (Archaea, Bacteria ...

Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Transcriptional control of an essential ribozyme in Drosophila reveals an ancient evolutionary divide in animals. [PDF]
Ribonuclease P (RNase P) is an essential enzyme required for 5'-maturation of tRNA. While an RNA-free, protein-based form of RNase P exists in eukaryotes, the ribonucleoprotein (RNP) form is found in all domains of life.

The axolotl's remarkable regenerative abilities decline with age, the causes may include the numerous repetitive elements within its genome. This study uncovers how Ty3 retrotransposons and coexpression networks involving muscle and immune pathways respond to aging and regeneration, suggesting that transposons respond to physiological shifts and may ...
