Rege-1 promotes C. elegans survival by modulating IIS and TOR pathways.
Metabolic pathways are known to sense the environmental stimuli and result in physiological adjustments. The responding processes need to be tightly controlled. Here, we show that upon encountering P. aeruginosa, C.

A Novel Method to Isolate RNase MRP Using RNA Streptavidin Aptamer Tags
Interactions between RNA-binding proteins and RNA molecules are at the center of multiple biological processes. Therefore, accurate characterization of the composition of ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs) is crucial.

Ribonuclease P (RNase P) is a class of enzymes involved in the processing of precursor tRNAs to remove their 5'-leader sequences. Ribonuclease P enzymes are classified into two completely distinct classes, i.e.

3,7-Dihydroxytropolones Inhibit Initiation of Hepatitis B Virus Minus-Strand DNA Synthesis
Initiation of protein-primed (-) strand DNA synthesis in hepatitis B virus (HBV) requires interaction of the viral reverse transcriptase with epsilon (ε), a cis-acting regulatory signal located at the 5’ terminus of pre-genomic RNA (pgRNA), and several ...

Bistability of an In Vitro Synthetic Autoregulatory Switch [PDF]
The construction of synthetic biochemical circuits is an essential step for developing quantitative understanding of information processing in natural organisms. Here, we report construction and analysis of an in vitro circuit with positive autoregulation that consists of just four synthetic DNA strands and three enzymes, bacteriophage T7 RNA ...

Microbial identification by mass cataloging
Background The public availability of over 180,000 bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) sequences has facilitated microbial identification and classification using hybridization and other molecular approaches.

Ribonuclease E provides substrates for ribonuclease P-dependent processing of a polycistronic mRNA. [PDF]
The polycistronic mRNA of the histidine operon is subject to a processing event that generates a rather stable transcript encompassing the five distal cistrons. The molecular mechanisms by which such a transcript is produced were investigated in Escherichia coli strains carrying mutations in several genes for exo- and endonucleases.

Structure and mechanistic features of the prokaryotic minimal RNase P
Endonucleolytic removal of 5’-leader sequences from tRNA precursor transcripts (pre-tRNAs) by ribonuclease P (RNase P) is essential for protein synthesis.

Structure and Function of Eukaryotic Ribonuclease P RNA [PDF]
Ribonuclease P (RNase P) is the ribonucleoprotein endonuclease that processes the 5' ends of precursor tRNAs. Bacterial and eukaryal RNase P RNAs had the same primordial ancestor; however, they were molded differently by evolution. RNase P RNAs of eukaryotes, in contrast to bacterial RNAs, are not catalytically active in vitro without proteins.

Evaluation of the allergenicity potential of TcPR-10 protein from Theobroma cacao. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The pathogenesis related protein PR10 (TcPR-10), obtained from the Theobroma cacao-Moniliophthora perniciosa interaction library, presents antifungal activity against M. perniciosa and acts in vitro as a ribonuclease.
