Characterisation of Polymyxa species by restriction analysis of PCR-amplified ribosomal DNA
A molecular method is described to aid identification of the obligate parasite Polymyxa and discriminate between species (P. betae and P. graminis) and isolates. DNA was extracted from zoospores, resting spores and roots infected with P.

Molecular phylogeny of brachiopods and phoronids based on nuclear-encoded small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences [PDF]
Brachiopod and phoronid phylogeny is inferred from SSU rDNA sequences of 28 articulate and nine inarticulate brachiopods, three phoronids, two ectoprocts and various outgroups, using gene trees reconstructed by weighted parsimony, distance and maximum ...

Studies on ribosomal DNA in cetaceans (whales) [PDF]
ARNASON U. and WIDEGREN, B. 1984. Studies on ribosomal DNA in cetaceans (whales).—Hereditas 101:149–154. Lund, Sweden. ISSN 0018–0661. Ribosomal DNA (rDNA) of 4 mysticetes and 10 odontocetes were studied by Southern blot hybridization. The material represented all extant cetacean families except the gray whales.

The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Background Although DNA sequence analysis is becoming a powerful tool for identifying species, it is not easy to assess whether the observed genetic disparity corresponds to reproductive isolation.

The Epigenetic Pathways to Ribosomal DNA Silencing [PDF]
SUMMARY Heterochromatin is the transcriptionally repressed portion of eukaryotic chromatin that maintains a condensed appearance throughout the cell cycle. At sites of ribosomal DNA (rDNA) heterochromatin, epigenetic states contribute to gene silencing and genome stability, which are required for proper chromosome segregation and

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Direct amplification and differentiation of pathogenic and nonpathogenic Entamoeba histolytica DNA from stool specimens [PDF]
Discrimination of pathogenic and nonpathogenic Entamoeba histolytica is of great clinical importance. A simple and rapid DNA extraction method that can be used directly with stool specimens was developed without the need for prior cultivation of the ...

We measure the cell‐specific responses of administering infusible ECM (iECM) in acute myocardial infarction (MI) across multiple timepoints. Using single‐nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, we measure macrophage activation, fibroblast remodeling, increased vascular development, lymphangiogenesis, cardioprotection, and neurogenesis ...
