Ribosome surface properties may impose limits on the nature of the cytoplasmic proteome
Much of the molecular motion in the cytoplasm is diffusive, which possibly limits the tempo of processes. We studied the dependence of protein mobility on protein surface properties and ionic strength.

PSMA8‐Containing 20S Proteasome Regulates Spermiogenesis and Male Fertility
PSMA8 assembles s20S proteasome that degrades specific substrates in elongating spermatids. Degradation of s20S‐substrates activates translation of FXR1‐target mRNAs, which are essential for mitochondrial sheath formation and sperm morphogenesis.

Eukaryotic ribosomes host PKC activity
PKC isoform betaII modulates translation and can be recruited on ribosomes via its scaffold RACK1 (receptor for activated protein kinase C 1), which resides on the 40S ribosomal subunit.

This study constructed the first spatiotemporal multi‐omics map of peach fruit and discovered a key candidate gene that synergistically regulates trichome development and drought tolerance through the jasmonic acid signaling pathway, providing insights into the coupling mechanism between development and stress resistance.

A prophetic theoretical article, which hypothesized that ribosomes have regulatory roles in controlling gene expression, inspired Maria Barna to rethink the value of purely theoretical scientific publications.

THUMPD1 drives a tumor‐suppressive signaling cascade in lung adenocarcinoma by promoting IGF2R expression. IGF2R associates with PPP2R1A to suppress AKT and activate AMPK, leading to SLC31A1 upregulation and copper accumulation. Elevated copper disrupts mitochondrial metabolism and induces excessive mitophagy, thereby restraining tumor growth and ...

Isolation and Characterization of Epidermal Ribosomes
The conditions required for isolation of ribosomal particles from guinea-pig epidermis and hair-root cells have been studied. Density-gradient patterns of the ribosomes following isolation from either tissue under a wide variety of conditions are ...

The conversion of a ribosomal RNA transcript to a cytoplasmic ribosome requires hundreds of accessory RNA and protein factors. Two papers published recently in Molecular Cell provide first looks at the association of these processing factors with the intermediates in ribosome synthesis (Harnpicharnchai et al., 2001; Bassler et al., 2001).

Enhancing CAR‐T Cell Efficacy in Solid Tumors by Inhibiting CCL5/VEGF‐Mediated Angiogenesis
This study reveals that CAR‐T cells in solid tumors produce CCL5, which paradoxically induces VEGF and angiogenesis to promote tumor growth. Blocking CCL5/VEGF signaling—through gene knockout, or the CCR5 inhibitor maraviroc—significantly enhances the antitumor efficacy of CAR‑T therapy (the diagram was created in Biorender).

An orthogonal ionic‐liquid extraction (Orth‐iEA) enables selective isolation of amyloid fibrils. TMGBF4 disrupts hydrogen‐bonded β‐sheet networks to solubilize amyloid aggregates, whereas C12ImCl interacts with hydrophobic regions of non‐amyloid proteins.
