Authenticity and the Aesthetic Experience of History [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper, I argue that norms of artistic and aesthetic authenticity that prioritize material origins foreclose on broader opportunities for aesthetic experience: particularly, for the aesthetic experience of history.

Bioengineered Bacterial Vesicles and Biomimetic Hybrids Eliminate Biofilms and Balance the Gut Microbiome

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
Biomimetic nanocarriers based on liposomes and Myxobacteria outer‐membrane vesicles (OMVs) are effective antibiotic delivery systems. Hybrids have a higher drug loading and can target intracellular pathogens, while OMVs evade immune clearance. Biomimetic nanoantibiotics effectively eliminate the biofilms of Gram‐negative bacteria. Besides, Myxobacteria

Borneo coral reefs subject to high sediment loads show evidence of resilience to various environmental stressors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
For reefs in South East Asia the synergistic effects of rapid land development, insufficient environmental policies and a lack of enforcement has led to poor water quality and compromised coral health from increased sediment and pollution.

Spatial Variability of Sea State in the German Bight and Influence of Offshore Wind Farms

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Offshore wind farms are growing worldwide and increase the source of renewable energy. However, as the extent and density of offshore wind farms increase, there is growing importance to understand the interactions with physical systems and the marine environment, in particular, the sea state.

Whitings in the Red Sea

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
We present the first documentation of whitings in the Red Sea, observed in a lagoonal environment. These events are linked to cascading offshore dense waters that liberate trapped sea floor nutrients, triggering algal blooms and elevating alkalinity, which is buffered by direct CaCO3 precipitation—contributing to the accumulation of aragonite mud in ...

Bacterial Communities Associated With Crustose Coralline Algae Are Host‐Specific

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
Fifteen Indo‐Pacific crustose coralline algae (CCA) species surface microbial communities were characterised with 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing and are distinct. The CCA surface microbiome primarily differentiate by algal host species, but core bacterial communities additionally correlated to host phylogeny.

Integrating terrestrial and canopy laser scanning for comprehensive analysis of large old trees: Implications for single tree and biodiversity research

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 5-20, February 2026.
Canopy laser scanning (CLS) enhances 3D measurements of large trees by lifting laser scanners into the canopy. Combining CLS with terrestrial laser scanning improves point cloud precision, reduces occlusion and enables detailed assessments of tree architecture and canopy biodiversity, opening new opportunities for forest ecology.
