CHRONOPOLITICS OF CLASSICAL PHILOLOGY THROUGH THE NON SEQUITUR

open access: yesHistory and Theory, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 45-55, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This article argues that classical philology can play a vital role in debates about the importance of philology now and configures a genealogy that may contribute to the quest for alternative philologies. Building on Werner Hamacher's definition of philology as “love of the non sequitur,” I turn to founding texts of Western classical philology

Influence of temperature on the preservation of fish -Winter School on Impact of Climate Change on Indian Marine Fisheries held at CMFRI, Cochin 18.1.2008 to 7.2.2008 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Live fish muscle is relaxed and elastic. Immediately after death rigor mortis sets in, then the whole body becomes inflexible and rigid. The onset of rigor depends upon the temperature, particularly on the difference of temperatures between that of ...

Polyphosphate Accumulation Is Determined by Zinc and Inositol in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

open access: yesYeast, Volume 42, Issue 11, Page 249-260, November 2025.
Zinc and inositol supplementation during phosphate starvation significantly enhances final polyphosphate levels in S. cerevisiae. ABSTRACT Polyphosphate (polyP) is an intriguing polymer with diverse biological and industrial applications. Chemical polyP production is energy‐intensive and limited in chain length at large‐scale production. Alternatively,

IA‐0130, a novel 3‐(1,3‐diarylallylidene)oxindole derivative, alleviates ovarian cancer via inhibiting IL‐6/gp130/STAT3 signalling

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue 22, Page 5670-5689, November 2025.
Background and Purpose Dysregulation of the IL‐6/glycoprotein 130(gp130)/STAT3 signalling axis is implicated in several human diseases, particularly cancer. Notably, gp130, a single transducer of this signalling axis, is a target for ovarian cancer treatment. However, data regarding small‐molecule inhibitors of gp130 are lacking. Therefore, we aimed to

Proteomic study of muscle sarcoplasmic proteins using AUT-PAGE/SDS-PAGE as two-dimensional gel electrophoresis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The conversion of muscle to meat in pig involves mainly proteolysis of myofibrillar proteins, which undergo notable changes since early stage of rigor mortis, even after 48 h post mortem.

Imaging 2D Optical Diffuse Reflectance in Skeletal Muscle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
doi:10.1364/OE.15.003998We discovered a unique pattern of optical reflectance from fresh prerigor skeletal muscles, which can not be described using existing theories.

Signs of Life in the Figure of the Shroud of Turin

open access: yesScientia et Fides, 2019
In this article several signs of life present in the Shroud of Turin are pointed out. Following the development of rigor mortis, the body posture of the image on the Shroud is analyzed.

Discovery and Treatment of Action Potential‐Independent Myotonia in Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 12, Issue 10, Page 2056-2067, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Objective Hyperkalemic periodic paralysis (hyperKPP) is characterized by attacks of transient weakness. A subset of hyperKPP patients suffers from transient involuntary contraction of muscle (myotonia). The goal of this study was to determine mechanisms causing myotonia in hyperKPP.

Optimizing prehospital chest compression strategies: The Impact of Compression Fraction on survival in out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest patients, a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesHong Kong Journal of Emergency Medicine, Volume 32, Issue 5, October 2025.
Among 742 out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest cases, chest compression fraction (CCF) above 80% did not improve outcomes. Return of spontaneous circulation probability peaked at 67% CCF. The curve tells a different story than we have believed. Abstract Background Chest compression fraction (CCF) is a key metric of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) quality.

Effect of delayed icing on quality changes and shelf-life of some freshwater fish from Bangladesh [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The quality and shelf-life of three freshwater fish species of Bangladesh, catla (Catla catla), magur (Clarias batrachus) and tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) stored at room temperature and ice were evaluated.
