Design, Synthesis, and Structural Analysis of Binaphthyl‐Based Chiral Benzindenes

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.
This work explores the synthetic endeavors in constructing the first‐of‐a‐kind axially chiral benz[f]indenes as potential chiral ligands. The overall synthetic pathway spans across 9 steps with 15.9% overall yield. Challenges in constructing modified analogs as well as metal complexes are discussed. Chiral benzindenes are an unexplored structural motif

Recent progress in the synthesis of six-membered aminocyclitols (2008-2017) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aminocyclitols are of interest as glucosidase inhibitors, as probes for the study of pseudoglycosyltransferases, and as potential therapeutics for the treatment of Gaucher’s disease.

Elucidation of the Conformational Rate Processes of the Macrocyclic Lactone (–)‐Nonenolide Through Variable Temperature NMR, Quantum Mechanics, and Molecular Dynamics

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 17, 5 May 2026.
The conformational rate processes that influence the NMR spectra of the ten‐membered lactone (–)‐nonenolide are elucidated using VT‐NMR, QM calculations and MD simulations. Reorientation of the alkene moiety with respect to the ring is identified as the slow exchange process.

Light‐Driven Competitive Selection in a Protein‐Catalyzed Dissipative Peptide Replication

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
A structurally flexible protein catalyzes replication within a dissipative reaction network driven by UVA‐induced disulfide rearrangements. The protein accelerates templated autocatalytic cycles with replication emerging as the dominant pathway.

Laser Engineering of HfN‐Based Nanoparticles for Safe NIR‐I Photothermal and X‐ray Enhancing Cancer Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 36, 4 May 2026.
In this study, we produced HfN‐based nanoparticles via femtosecond laser ablation in acetone. The nanoparticles exhibit a red‐shifted plasmonic resonance in the NIR‐I window, colloidal stability after coating with polyethyleneglycol, and excellent biocompatibility. The photothermal and X‐ray sensitization therapeutic effects were demonstrated for tumor

Chemical Upcycling of Nitrile Butadiene Rubbers to Polyamines and Polyols by Chemoselective Catalytic Hydrogenation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
We demonstrate here the transformation of NBR (Nitrile butadiene rubber) including post‐consumer waste sourced from nitrile gloves and o‐rings into polyamines and polyols via ruthenium catalyzed hydrogenation. ABSTRACT We report here two new approaches for the chemical recycling/upcycling of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) to make either polyamines or ...

The Role of Ionic Liquids at the Biological Interfaces in Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
Ionic liquids (ILs) are highlighted as key artificial ionic materials that bridge biological ion‐based signaling and electronic devices. By understanding their composition, structure, function relationships, and mechanisms, ILs can advance from high performance electrolyte to core materials enabling integrated, multifunctional bioelectronics for ...

Acceptorless Dehydrogenative Polymerization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 18, 27 April 2026.
Acceptor‐less dehydrogenative polymerization (ADP) enables the atom‐economic step‐growth synthesis of different type of polymers directly from simple alcohols, releasing H2 as the sole by‐product. This review outlines the mechanistic foundations, catalytic systems, and emerging polymer architectures of ADP, highlighting its potential as a sustainable ...
