Ring-Opening Fluorination of Isoxazoles
A ring-opening fluorination of isoxazoles has been developed. Upon treatment of isoxazoles with an electrophilic fluorinating agent (Selectfluor), fluorination followed by deprotonation leads to tertiary fluorinated carbonyl compounds. This method features mild reaction conditions, good functional group tolerance, and a simple experimental procedure ...

Ring-Opening Fluorination of Bicyclic Azaarenes
A ring-opening fluorination of bicyclic azaarenes was developed. Although this overall transformation can be classified as an electrophilic fluorination of aromatics, it is a novel type of fluorination that results in construction of tert -C–F bonds.

Ring-Opening Polymerization of Hemoglobin [PDF]
Hemoglobin (Hb), an oxygen-carrying protein, has an α2β2 tetrameric structure that dissociates reversibly into two αβ dimers (α2β2 ⇄ 2αβ). We synthesized a cyclic Hb-ring monomer with two β subunits bound through a 10 kDa polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain.

Ring Opening of Epoxides by Pendant Silanols [PDF]
We present a new ring-opening reaction of epoxides by pendant silanols, catalyzed by either Ph3C+BF4- or BINOL-phosphoric acid. Silanol epoxides derived from trans-allylic alcohols, cis-allylic alcohols, trans-homoallylic alcohols, and cis-homoallylic alcohols were all compatible and gave products from either endo- or exo-ring opening.

Unexplored Nucleophilic Ring Opening of Aziridines
The reactivity of dianions of carboxylic acids towards aziridines has been studied. Although, a similar reactivity to that of enolates from ketones, esters or amides has been observed, the method directly yields g-aminoacids in one step.

Dispersity-controlled ring-opening polymerization of epoxide [PDF]
Dispersity or molar mass distribution (Ð M) profoundly influences polymer properties, but its control remains a challenge, especially for ring-opening polymerization (ROP).

Alkylative Aziridine Ring-Opening Reactions
In this study, the highly strained three-membered aziridine ring was successfully activated as the aziridinium ion by alkylation of the ring nitrogen with a methyl, ethyl or allyl group, which was followed by ring opening with external nucleophiles such ...

Recent advances using cyclopropanols and cyclobutanols in ring-opening asymmetric synthesis
Due to high ring strain energies, cyclopropanols and cyclobutanols have a strong tendency of breaking the endocyclic C–C bonds to participate in versatile organic transformations.
