Aspectos de la polimerización de glicidil metacrilato y sulfuro de propileno, usando difenilcinc como iniciador [PDF]

open access: yesAvances en Química, 2010
The catalytic activity of diphenylzinc as initiator in the ring opening polymerization of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and propylene sulfide (PS) was analyzed. Diphenylzinc exhibited high activity as initiator in the polymerization of both monomers.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Nucleophilic opening of the 3,5-anhydro ring in 1,2-O-cyclohexylidene-a-D-xylofuranose [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2001
The reactivity of the oxetane ring in 3,5-anhydro-1,2-O-cyclohexylidene-a-D-xylofuranose (1) was exemplified by its regiospecific nucleophilic opening. The action of concentrated hydrobromic or hydroiodic acid on 1 resulted in the exclusive formation of

Conformational analysis of olefin-carbene ruthenium metathesis catalysts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We settle a long-standing disagreement of DFT with experiment (both solution and gas phase) for the phosphine dissociation process in Grubbs metathesis catalysis. Our findings with the M06 functional provide further support to gas-phase experimental work,

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Reactivity of three-membered heterocyclic rings with respect to sodium methoxide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Aziridines can be ‘activated’ or ‘non-activated’, depending on whether their N-substituent is an electron-withdrawing group or an electron-donating group, respectively.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
