Double-stranded RNA of Ibaraki virus
Virology, 1977Abstract The Ibaraki virus RNA is double-stranded. The base composition of the RNA is 27.7% A, 27.1% U, 23.0% G, and 22.2% C. Ibaraki virus is classified as belonging to the orbivirus genus of the family Reoviridae.

Assembly of Double‐Stranded RNA Bacteriophages
2005Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on bacteriophage O6. Most of the current knowledge about the structure, assembly, and molecular biology of double stranded (ds) RNA bacteriophages is derived from model systems. It is found that the assembly of enveloped dsRNA bacteriophages can be dissected into four distinct steps: assembly of empty precursor ...

Herpes-virus and double-stranded RNA

Direct Cloning of Double-Stranded RNAs
2015Most annotated genomes show a large number of sense-antisense transcripts that can generate double-stranded RNAs. We describe a method to clone these dsRNAs from total RNA preparations.

Cellular response to double‐stranded RNA
Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 1991AbstractThe study of double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) encompasses a variety of fields. Basic research in this area has contributed to a greater mechanistic understanding of gene induction, tumor cell growth arrest, the establishment of antiviral states, and immunomodulation.

Double-Stranded RNAs as Gene Activators
1994In 1963 Gomatos and Tamm discovered the first natural dsRNA, namely the genomic RNA of reoviruses. A few years later, Lampson et al. (1967) established that dsRNA is the active agent in an extract of a Penicillium funiculosum preparation which, following injection into rabbits, induces interferon (IFN) in serum. They also showed that various natural (i.

Gene silencing by double-stranded RNA
Current Opinion in Cell Biology, 2001Eukaryotes silence gene expression in the presence of double-stranded RNA homologous to the silenced gene. Silencing occurs by the targeted degradation of mRNA. Biochemical reactions that recapitulate this phenomenon generate RNA fragments of 21--23 nucleotides from the double-stranded RNA.

Infectious double-stranded poliovirus RNA
Virology, 1964Abstract Evidence is presented for the existence of an infectious double-stranded poliovirus RNA in HeLa cells which is relatively resistant to RNase digestion, has a buoyant density of 1.58 g cm −3 in Cs 2 SO 4 , a sedimentation coefficient of 16–20 S in sucrose gradients, and elutes from methylated albumin columns at 0.84 M NaCl.

Interferon stimulated by Double Stranded RNA
Nature, 1970Interferon represents an interesting approach to the control of viral disease in man and his domestic animals, as this review shows, for it is a part of the animal's own recovery processes during naturally occurring infection and active against most viruses that cause acute infection.
