Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Purification of 70S Ribosomes from Bacillus subtilis
The eubacterial ribosome (70S) is a macromolecular complex that is composed of a small (30S) subunit and a large (50S) subunit. The small subunit comprises the 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and more than 20 ribosomal proteins (r-proteins), whereas the large ...

Structural basis for ribosomal 16S rRNA cleavage by the cytotoxic domain of colicin E3
The toxin colicin E3 targets the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes and cleaves a phosphodiester bond in the decoding center. We present the crystal structure of the 70S ribosome in complex with the cytotoxic domain of colicin E3 (E3-rRNase).

Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

Multiple Exoribonucleases Catalyze Maturation of the 3′ Terminus of 16S Ribosomal RNA (rRNA)*
Background: The RNases involved in 3′ maturation of E. coli 16S rRNA were not known. Results: E. coli mutants lacking RNase II, RNase R, PNPase, and RNase PH accumulate 17S rRNA precursor.

Clostridium bacteraemia characterised by 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing [PDF]
Background:Owing to problems in accurate species identification of the diverse genus clostridium, the epidemiology and pathogenicity of many species are not fully understood. Moreover, previous studies on clostridium bacteraemia have been limited and relied only on phenotypic species identification.Aims:To characterise the epidemiology, disease ...

Compound Heterozygous MRPS14 Variants Associated With Leigh Syndrome
ABSTRACT MRPS14 (uS14m) is a nuclear‐encoded ribosomal protein important for mitochondria‐specific translation. To date, only a single individual with a recessive MRPS14‐related disorder (also known as COXPD38) has been reported. We report an additional subject possessing novel compound heterozygous MRPS14 variants (p.Asp37Asn, p.Asn60Asp). The subject

RNA–DNA differences in human mitochondria restore ancestral form of 16S ribosomal RNA
RNA transcripts are generally identical to the underlying DNA sequences. Nevertheless, RNA–DNA differences (RDDs) were found in the nuclear human genome and in plants and animals but not in human mitochondria.

Whole‐Blood RNA Sequencing Profiling of Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis Treated With Tofacitinib
Objective Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) often fail to respond to therapies, including JAK inhibitors (JAKi), and treatment allocation is made via a trial‐and‐error strategy. A comprehensive analysis of responses to JAKi, including tofacitinib, by RNA sequencing (RNAseq) would allow the discovery of transcriptomic markers with a two‐fold ...
