RNA Helicases and Their Cofactors

2014
RNA helicases are proteins that function by melting RNA secondary structures or remodeling ribonucleoprotein complexes. Canonical RNA helicase eIF4A plays an essential role in translation initiation by resolving secondary structures in the 5′ UTR of mRNAs and preparing the mRNA template for ribosome recruitment.

Molecular Characterization of Nuclear DNA Helicase II (RNA Helicase A)

2009
Nuclear DNA helicase II (NDH II) was first isolated from calf thymus using a DNA-unwinding assay. Subsequently it has been shown to be a homologue of human RNA helicase A (RHA) and the maleless protein (MLE) from Drosophila. Accordingly, the protein possesses both DNA and RNA unwinding activities.
