Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty
Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.

Multi‐omics analysis reveals that herbivorous adaptation in Lordiphosa flies arises from coordinated interactions across the genome, transcriptome, and gut microbiota: genomic expansions of detoxification (e.g., cytochrome P450s) and carbohydrate metabolism gene families, transcriptomic upregulation of energy pathways like lipid oxidation and ...

Iron Physiology and Its Impact on Atopic Diseases: An EAACI Taskforce Report
ABSTRACT Iron is essential for oxygen transport, energy metabolism, and immune regulation. Yet iron deficiency is the most common micronutrient disorder across all age groups, affecting nearly one quarter of the global population. Iron deficiency triggers nutritional immunity, a host defense mechanism that withholds and redistributes iron, contributing

Changing nucleotide specificity of the DEAD-box helicase Hera abrogates communication between the Q-motif and the P-loop [PDF]
DEAD-box proteins disrupt or remodel RNA and protein/RNA complexes at the expense of ATP. The catalytic core is composed of two flexibly connected RecA-like domains.

Leveraging paired germline and somatic analysis to improve the classification of DDX41 variants
Summary Constitutional pathogenic variants in DDX41 predispose to myelodysplasia and acute myeloid leukaemia. Acquisition of subsequent somatic hits in the second allele is frequent, with notable recurrent variants at key hotspots. Sequencing of Deoxyribonucleic acid from blood/marrow of 239 patients with suspected/confirmed haematological malignancies

Compartmentalisation in cAMP signalling: A phase separation perspective
Cells rely on precise spatiotemporal control of signalling pathways to ensure functional specificity. The compartmentalisation of cyclic AMP (cAMP) and protein kinase A (PKA) signalling enables distinct cellular responses within a crowded cytoplasmic space.

Inhibitors of insulin‐degrading enzyme boost PI cytotoxicity through an increased sensitivity of proteasome to PI inhibitors, induction of ISR, DNA damage and Myc down‐regulation. They overcome PI resistance in vitro and induce tumour regression in vivo.
