Targeted mRNA demethylation in Arabidopsis using plant m6A editor
Background N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is an important epigenetic modification involved in RNA stability and translation regulation. Manipulating the expression of RNA m6A methyltransferases or demethylases makes it difficult to study the effect of specific

RNA is spliced concomitantly with transcription and the process is organized by RNA splicing factors, transcriptional regulators, and chromatin regulators. RNA is spliced in close proximity to transcription machinery. Hence, some RNA splicing factors may

Characterization of RNA hairpin loop stability [PDF]
Fifteen RNA hairpins that share the same stem sequence and have homopolymer loops of A, C and U residues which vary in length from three to nine nucleotides were synthesized and their thermal stabilities determined. Tm varies as a function of loop size but is almost independent of loop composition.

Nuclear Noncoding RNAs and Genome Stability [PDF]
In modern molecular biology, RNA has emerged as a versatile macromolecule capable of mediating an astonishing number of biological functions beyond its role as a transient messenger of genetic information. The recent discovery and functional analyses of new classes of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) have revealed their widespread use in many pathways ...

Variations in the Abortive HIV-1 RNA Hairpin Do Not Impede Viral Sensing and Innate Immune Responses
The highly conserved trans-acting response element (TAR) present in the RNA genome of human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) is a stably folded hairpin structure involved in viral replication.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

ALKBH5-mediated m6A demethylation of lncRNA PVT1 plays an oncogenic role in osteosarcoma
Background Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most common malignant bone tumors. Plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) is a well-known oncogenic long noncoding RNA (lncRNA). However, to date, the regulatory mechanism of PVT1 upregulation in OS remains

Retroviral strategy to stabilize viral RNA [PDF]
Unspliced Rous sarcoma virus (RSV) retroviral mRNA undergoes nonsense-mediated RNA decay (NMD) if it has premature termination codons in the gag gene. However, its normal gag termination codon is not subject to NMD despite being 7kb from the 3' poly(A) sequence. An RNA stability element (RSE) has been identified immediately downstream of gag in the RSV
