Uniformity amid diversity in RNase P [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2007
The ribonucleoprotein RNase P, which catalyzes the Mg2+-dependent removal of the 5′ leader sequence in all precursor tRNAs (ptRNAs), is remarkable for the diversity in its subunit composition (Fig. 1 A). Although all RNase P holoenzymes have an essential RNA subunit, the number of protein subunits varies from 1 in Bacteria to at least 4 in Archaea and ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

A Tobacco S-like RNase Inhibits Hyphal Elongation of Plant Pathogens

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 2002
Ribonuclease (RNase) NE gene expression is induced in tobacco leaves in response to Phytophthora parasitica. Using antibodies directed against RNase NE, we demonstrate that RNase NE is extracellular at the early steps of the interaction, while the fungal

Reconstitution of Pyrobaculum aerophilum RNase P, a catalytic ribonucleoprotein involved in tRNA maturation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
RNase P, an essential ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, is responsible for the processing and removal of 5′ tRNA leaders. While RNase P-catalyzed tRNA maturation is common to the three domains of life, the subunit make-up of this enzyme is quite different.

A general approach to high-yield biosynthesis of chimeric RNAs bearing various types of functional small RNAs for broad applications. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
RNA research and therapy relies primarily on synthetic RNAs. We employed recombinant RNA technology toward large-scale production of pre-miRNA agents in bacteria, but found the majority of target RNAs were not or negligibly expressed. We thus developed a

Architecture and Function of the Human Endonucleases RNase P and RNase MRP [PDF]

open access: yesIUBMB Life, 2000
AbstractIn the past decade, important advances have been made in our knowledge of the composition of human RNase MRP and RNase P complexes. Both ribonucleoprotein particles function as endonucleases and contain RNA components that are structurally related.

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Evolutionary conundrum of RNase P: from a catalytic RNA form to a protein only enzyme form [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Use of RNA secondary structure for evolutionary relationships : investigating RNase P and RNase MRP : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Genetics at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Bioinformatics is applied here to examine whether RNA secondary structure data can reflect distant evolutionary relationships. This is important when there is little confidence in sequence data such as when looking at the evolution of RNase MRP (MRP ...
