Telomeres in ICF syndrome cells are vulnerable to DNA damage due to elevated DNA:RNA hybrids. [PDF]
DNA:RNA hybrids, nucleic acid structures with diverse physiological functions, can disrupt genome integrity when dysregulated. Human telomeres were shown to form hybrids with the lncRNA TERRA, yet the formation and distribution of these hybrids among ...

The RNase J-Based RNA Degradosome Is Compartmentalized in the Gastric Pathogen
Posttranscriptional regulation is a major level of gene expression control in any cell. In bacteria, multiprotein machines called RNA degradosomes are central for RNA processing and degradation, and some were reported to be compartmentalized inside these

The HEX 110 Hexamerin Is a Cytoplasmic and Nucleolar Protein in the Ovaries of Apis mellifera. [PDF]
Hexamerins are insect storage proteins abundantly secreted by the larval fat body into the haemolymph. The canonical role of hexamerins consists of serving as an amino acid reserve for development toward the adult stage.

The DNA damage response acts as a safeguardagainst harmful DNA–RNA hybrids ofdifferent origins [PDF]
Despite playing physiological roles in specific situations, DNA–RNA hybrids threat genome integrity. To investigate how cells do counteract spontaneous DNA–RNA hybrids, here we screen an siRNA library covering 240 human DNA damage response (DDR) genes ...

Controlled levels of protein modification through a chromatography-mediated bioconjugation. [PDF]
Synthetically modified proteins are increasingly finding applications as well-defined scaffolds for materials. In practice it remains difficult to construct bioconjugates with precise levels of modification because of the limited number of repeated ...

Synthesis of 5’ end-labeled RNA
5’ end-labeled RNA molecules are useful substrates to analyse the endo- and exonucleolytic activities of various ribonucleases. Here two protocols are given to synthesize P32 labeled RNAs with a 5’ PPP or 5’ P moiety. 5’ exoribonucleases generally do not

Detection of DNA-RNA hybrids in vivo [PDF]
DNA-RNA hybrids form naturally during essential cellular functions such as transcription and replication. However, they may be an important source of genome instability, a hallmark of cancer and genetic diseases.

Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells repaired but did not prevent gentamicin-induced acute kidney injury through paracrine effects in rats. [PDF]
This study evaluated the effects of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) or their conditioned medium (CM) on the repair and prevention of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) induced by gentamicin (G).

Recognition of Ribosomal RNA Sites in DNA, I. Analysis of the E. coli System [PDF]
The evidence recently presented of specific hybridization between bacterial ribosomal RNA and homologous DNA1-3 has indicated the possibility of a biochemical approach to the problem of the identification of ribosomal RNA sites in DNA.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
