Basic study on measurement of road friction coefficient with strain induced in a tire side face

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
If road surface friction coefficient can be measured in real time, the performance of various vehicle control systems such as ABS (Antilock Braking System) and automatic braking systems can be improved.

Large‐scale implementation of floating car data monitoring road friction

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, 2021
In Sweden today, friction measurements are performed manually, often using methods generating spot‐wise measurements. Because the low numbers of measurements provided by these methods are insufficient to follow up on the friction requirements set by the ...

Path Tracking Control of Intelligent Vehicles Considering Multi-Nonlinear Characteristics for Dual-Motor Autonomous Steering System

open access: yesActuators, 2023
In the path tracking control of intelligent vehicles, the traditional linear control method is prone to high tracking errors for uncertain parameters of the steering transmission system and road conditions.

System for Investigation of Friction Properties of the Road Surface

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2015
Friction properties of the road surface have a great influence on the safety of automobile motion. These properties are characterized by the tyre-to-road adhesion coefficient, which is measured during the routine and acceptance investigations of roads ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Design of a Path-Tracking Controller with an Adaptive Preview Distance Scheme for Autonomous Vehicles

open access: yesMachines
This paper presents a method to design a path-tracking controller with an adaptive preview distance scheme for autonomous vehicles. Generally, the performance of a path-tracking controller depends on tire–road friction and is severely deteriorated on low-

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
