The past two decades have witnessed a revolutionary era for peripheral bronchoscopy. Though the initial description of radial endobronchial ultrasound can be traced back to 1992, it was not until the mid-2000s that its utilization became commonplace ...

Proof of concept: Shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy performed under moderate sedation
We describe a first reported case of shape-sensing robotic-assisted bronchoscopy using ION-intuitive platform done successfully under moderate sedation. A 76-year-old woman was found to have a right upper lobe mass measuring 3 × 2.9 cm.

Inheritance and innovation of the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions
As the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, early detection and diagnosis are crucial to reduce the mortality of lung cancer. To date, the diagnosis of the peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) remains a major unmet clinical need.

Precautionary strategy for high‐risk airway bleeding cases during robotic‐assisted bronchoscopy
Bronchoscopy in thrombocytopenic patients remains a controversial topic as traditionally varying platelet thresholds have been stablished as “safe,” ranging from 20,000 to 50,000.

Robotic-assisted bronchoscopy—advancing lung cancer management
The incidental discovery of early-stage, multifocal lung cancer is transforming the medical landscape. Diagnosing and treating such lesions are often troublesome due to their small size, subsolid consistency, and multifocal nature.
