Toxicological evaluation of a chicory root extract [PDF]
An Ames test and a 28-day sub-chronic toxicity study in male and female Sprague-Dawley rats were conducted to evaluate the safety of a chicory root extract being investigated as a therapeutic for inflammation. Chicory extract had no mutagenic activity in the Ames test although it was cytotoxic to certain strains of Salmonella at higher doses with and ...

Utilization of chicory roots for microbial endoinulinase production [PDF]
The optimal culture conditions for endoinulinase production using chicory roots were studied in shake-flask culture.Much higher enzyme production was achieved with Xanthomonas sp. (15 U ml(-1)) than with Pseudomonas sp. (3 U ml(-1)). Optimized culture conditions of Xanthomonas sp.

Quantitative Determination of Hysroxycinnamic Acids in Chicory Root [PDF]
The possibility for applying of a direct spectrophotometry to quantify totality of hydroxycin- namic acid derivatives is investigated. As a quantitative criterion for quality assessment of chicory roots the total content of hydroxycinnam ic acid derivatives of at least 0.3 %, expressed as chlorogenic acid, is suggested.

Assessment of the safety of chicory root crops during winter storage
Relevance and methods. For the production of chicory seeds, care must be taken not only to obtain a high-grade source material, i.e. varietal seeds and masterbatch root crops, but also to store the resulting root crops in winter with minimal losses.

EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES OF THE PROCESS OF CUTTING THE HEAD OF CHICORY ROOTS
Reducing the energy consumption of the technological process of harvesting the main mass of chicory root buds is provided by developing, justifying the parameters and the use of advanced hooking modules. According to the results of field planned factor experiments, a regression equation is obtained, which characterizes the change in the cutting length ...
