Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

Influence of RT-qPCR primer position on EGFR interference efficacy in lung cancer cells

open access: yesBiological Procedures Online, 2010
Background Real-time quantitative RT-PCR (RT-qPCR) is a "gold" standard for measuring steady state mRNA levels in RNA interference assays. The knockdown of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene with eight individual EGFR small interfering RNAs

Mobile Efficient Diagnostics of Infectious Diseases via On‐Chip RT‐qPCR: MEDIC‐PCR

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
The COVID‐19 outbreak has caused public and global health crises. However, the lack of on‐site fast, reliable, sensitive, and low‐cost reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) testing limits early detection, timely isolation, and epidemic

Detection of MicroRNAs in Dried Serum Blots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
MicroRNAs are short RNAs which can be utilized as biomarkers for a variety of conditions. They are detectable in serum, and changes in the levels of circulating microRNAs have been associated with different diseases.

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

The Long Noncoding RNA HEAL Regulates HIV-1 Replication through Epigenetic Regulation of the HIV-1 Promoter. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A major challenge in finding a cure for HIV-1/AIDS is the difficulty in identifying and eradicating persistent reservoirs of replication-competent provirus.

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.
