Lignin–Chitosan Nanocarriers for the Delivery of Bioactive Natural Products against Wood-Decay Phytopathogens

open access: yesAgronomy, 2022
The use of nanocarriers (NCs), i.e., nanomaterials capable of encapsulating drugs and releasing them selectively, is an emerging field in agriculture. In this study, the synthesis, characterization, and in vitro and in vivo testing of biodegradable NCs ...

Composition and production of thiol constituents induced by cadmium in the marine microalga Tetraselmis suecica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Time course of intracellular levels of different thiols (phytochelatins, desglycyl-phytochelatins, glutathione, γ-glutamylcysteine [γ-Glu-Cys], and cysteine) were studied in the microalga Tetraselmis suecica exposed to different cadmium concentrations ...

Madder (Rubia tinctorum L.) as an Economic Factor Under Sustainability Goals in the Textile Dyeing

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2023
This study emphasizes that madder is an input compatible with sustainability goals in the textile sector. Madder is an input (dyestuff) that can be used instead of hazardous chemicals in textile dyeing.

Novel Manufacturing of Cellulose‐Based Membranes for Energy Storage Devices: Toward a PFAS Free Future

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, Volume 9, Issue 12, December 2025.
This work presents a novel, scalable method for manufacturing PFAS‐free cellulose‐based membranes for energy storage devices. By coating kraft paper with cellulose nanofibrils and optimizing barrier and ionic conductivity properties, membranes are achieved that prevent redox molecule crossover while maintaining performance.

Effect of organic biocolourants on lightfastness and mechanical properties of polylactic acid

open access: yesColoration Technology, Volume 141, Issue 6, Page 921-931, December 2025.
Abstract Most modern colourants are acquired from petroleum‐based sources or mining, which often causes environmental degradation. Consequently, alternative colouring solutions are sought, such as using biocolourants, which are organic colourants from bio‐based sources.

Dyeing and Adsorption Studies of Madder (Rubia tinctorum) on Wool Fibers

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2015
In this study, the dyeing behavior of wool fabrics with madder has been studied. Three well-known types of adsorption isotherms i.e. the Nernst, Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms were used to fit the data.

Chemical profiling and characterisation of anthraquinone‐based polyphenols as biocolourants from Cortinarius semisanguineus

open access: yesColoration Technology, Volume 141, Issue 6, Page 855-888, December 2025.
Abstract Anthraquinone dyes are known for their significant colour (brightness of shade in the red, blue and green areas) and light fastness properties compared with other synthetic dyes (such as azo‐based dyes). However, challenging multi‐step synthesis of anthraquinones and limited access to fewer substituents result in insufficient reactivity ...
