The Pinna nobilis, a Mediterranean mollusc, has suffered population declines due to a mortality event linked to the parasite Haplosporidium pinnae, though some populations show resilience. This study developed a molecular multiplex‐PCR method using species‐specific primers to accurately identify P. nobilis, P. rudis, and their hybrids.
