E2F-dependent transcription determines replication capacity and S phase length

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
DNA replication is tightly regulated during S phase of the cell cycle to ensure timely and accurate genome duplication. Here, the authors reveal that E2F-dependent transcription determines the maximal amount of DNA a cell is able to synthesise per unit ...

The metapoems of Glauco Mattoso´s blind phase

open access: yesTexto Poético, 2017
Reflecting about Glauco Mattoso´s poetic art singularities, this paper analyzes some of the metapoems of the author’s so called blind phase, in which the hearing becomes a crucial tool in the creation process as well as the predominance of the poetic ...

Regulation of Cell Cycle Progression by Growth Factor-Induced Cell Signaling

open access: yesCells, 2021
The cell cycle is the series of events that take place in a cell, which drives it to divide and produce two new daughter cells. The typical cell cycle in eukaryotes is composed of the following phases: G1, S, G2, and M phase.

Defective S Phase Chromatin Assembly Causes DNA Damage, Activation of the S Phase Checkpoint, and S Phase Arrest

open access: yesMolecular Cell, 2003
The S phase checkpoint protects the genome from spontaneous damage during DNA replication, although the cause of damage has been unknown. We used a dominant-negative mutant of a subunit of CAF-I, a complex that assembles newly synthesized DNA into nucleosomes, to inhibit S phase chromatin assembly and found that this induced S phase arrest.

Computation of Optimal Current References for Flux-weakening of Multi-Phase Synchronous Machines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Multi-phase synchronous machines are more and more used in specific applications where high power density, low bus voltage, wide speed range and fault-tolerant capabilities are required. Due to the high number of degrees of freedom, multi-phase machines
