Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Glasdegib Dimaleate: Synthesis, Characterization and Comparison of Its Properties with Monomaleate Analogue

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Glasdegib is a recently approved drug for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia. It is formulated and marketed in monomaleate salt form. In our investigation, we were able to prepare a glasdegib dimaleate form, which could, in theory, exist in double ...

Isolation and X-ray Structures of Labile Benzoic- and Acetic-Acidium Carbocations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
New carbocationic salts (via O-protonation of substituted benzoic acids) are prepared for the first time by controlled hydration of the corresponding benzoylium salts and isolated in pure crystalline form.

Geometrical frustration in the spin liquid beta'-Me3EtSb[Pd(dmit)2]2 and the valence bond solid Me3EtP[Pd(dmit)2]2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We show that the electronic structures of the title compounds predicted by density functional theory (DFT) are well described by tight binding models. We determine the frustration ratio, J'/J, of the Heisenberg model on the anisotropic triangular lattice,

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Catalysts for polyimide foams from aromatic isocyanates and aromatic dianhydrides [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Polyimide foam products having greatly improved burn-through and flame-spread resistance are prepared by the reaction of aromatic polyisocyanates with aromatic dianhydrides in the presence of metallic salts of octoic acid. The salts, for example stannous

Rheological behaviour and spectroscopic investigations of cerium-modified AlO(OH)colloidal suspensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The rheological behaviour of aqueous suspensions of boehmite (AlO(OH)) modified with different Ce-salts (Ce(NO3)3, CeCl3, Ce(CH3COO)3 and Ce2(SO4)3) was investigated at a fixed Ce/Al molar ratio (0.05).

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Compositional controls on melting and dissolving a salt into a ternary melt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We explore theoretically the controls on dissolution of salt A, in an undersaturated brine of salts A and B. We show that, as the concentration of B increases, the dissolution rate of A decreases, for brine of given temperature.
