Statistical Data Generation Using Sample Data
2018Due to the ever increasing data stored in databases, it is important to develop software which can generate large numbers of test data that reflect the properties of a given sample. By generating such data, database algorithms can be stress-tested and evaluated by their performance. If the generated data is much greater in number than the given sample,

Sampling operations on big data
2015 49th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2015The 3Vs — Volume, Velocity and Variety — of Big Data continues to be a large challenge for systems and algorithms designed to store, process and disseminate information for discovery and exploration under real-time constraints. Common signal processing operations such as sampling and filtering, which have been used for decades to compress signals are ...

The notion of zeros of sampled-data systems is introduced in the lifting framework so that from the continuous-time viewpoint the zeros have signal transmission blocking properties. A characterization of all such zeros is given in terms of the eigenvalues of a bounded operator on the state space.

Advances in computer-based control systems require to consider digital controllers on the base of multirate and unconventional sampling schemes. The purpose of this paper is to extend the concepts of system passivity which are well known ideas in the context of continuous and discrete time systems to the case of sampled-data systems.
