Formulation and quality control of amla oil (Phyllantus emblica) based on Iranian traditional medicine [PDF]

open access: yesResearch Journal of Pharmacognosy, 2017
Background and objectives: Amla is native to India and is exported to Iran. Although amla has been mentioned in Iranian traditional medicine (ITM) manuscripts, no pharmaceuticals have been prepared from this medicinal plant in Iran; thus, in the present ...

Natural allelic variation of basic helix–loop–helix transcription factor 25 regulates carotenoid biosynthesis in sweet potato

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Carotenoid‐rich orange‐fleshed sweet potato (OFSP) is an important staple diet and source of nutrition in developing countries, including Africa and Asia. However, the regulation of carotenoid biosynthesis remains to be better understood. A natural allelic variation closely linked to carotenoid biosynthesis was identified in the promoter region

Oilseed‐based metabolic engineering of astaxanthin and related ketocarotenoids using a plant‐derived pathway: Lab‐to‐field‐to‐application

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Ketocarotenoids, including astaxanthin, are red lipophilic pigments derived from the oxygenation of β‐carotene ionone rings. These carotenoids have exceptional antioxidant capacity and high commercial value as natural pigments, especially for aquaculture feedstocks to confer red flesh colour to salmon and shrimp.

Hindered cracking in colloidal suspension coatings via evaporation‐driven lyotropic liquid crystals

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 71, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract We demonstrate that lyotropic liquid crystalline (LC) phases, formed by the molecular interactions between 1‐glyceryl monooleyl ether (GME) and water, offer new pathways for producing crack‐free particulate films from colloidal suspensions. Drying experiments on titanium dioxide‐ethanol‐water‐GME suspension systems revealed a 15‐fold increase ...

Interface Alterations in Cellulose Synthases Redefine CESA Complex Assembly to Enhance Cellulosic Biomass Production

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 17, Issue 7, July 2025.
We analyze sequence‐structure–function relationships, particularly interface mutations, in cellulose synthase (CESA) complexes (CSCs), which evolved from homomeric to heteromeric forms in seed plants. Heterologous expression of an evolutionarily divergent CESA minimizes interference with endogenous CSCs, promoting homomeric CSC formation and enhanced ...

Aminosulfonated Graphene as a Catalyst for Efficient Production of Biodiesel from Fatty Acids and Crude Vegetable Oils

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 12, June 17, 2025.
The covalent integration of amino and sulfonate groups on the graphene surface significantly enhances activity in acid‐catalyzed reactions, such as in biodiesel production and dehydration of saccharides. Developing such heterogeneous, recyclable catalysts is vital, as acid catalysis represents one of the most general and versatile strategies in organic

Solid‐State Structures of Three Zinc(II) Coordination Polymers with 3‐(1H‐Imidazol‐1‐yl)propanoate Linkers Prepared in Water

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 17, June 17, 2025.
This study investigates the water solution‐derived structure of three zinc(II) based coordination polymers with 3‐(1H‐imidazol‐1‐yl)propanoate ligands by single crystal and powder X‐ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy supported by theoretical calculations, and thermogravimetry.
