Global insights on the diagnosis, management, and prevention of pediatric ingestions: A report from the FISPGHAN expert panel

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract This is a comprehensive review of pediatric foreign body (FB) ingestions, emphasizing the global burden, epidemiology, and management strategies. Predominantly occurring in children under 6, with a peak between 6 months and 3 years, these incidents pose significant health risks with substantial regional variations in ingested objects—ranging ...

Exogenous oxidized phytosterol may modulate linoleic acid metabolism through upregulation of fatty acid desaturase in rats

open access: yesLipids, EarlyView.
Abstract Previous in vitro studies have indicated that oxidized phytosterol (OPS) exhibits some toxicity; however, the harmful effects of OPS on fatty acid metabolism are not completely understood yet. Therefore, this study examined the effects of exogenous phytosterol (PS) and OPS on growth parameters and lipid metabolism in rats.

Interactions Between Polyethyleneimine Xerogels and Acetic Acid Vapor from Degraded Cellulose Acetate. A Novel Therapy for Motion Picture Films Affected by the “Vinegar Syndrome”

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Motion picture films made of cellulose acetate are subjected to chemical degradation primarily due to a deacetylation process known as “vinegar syndrome”. A polyethyleneimine‐based xerogel is proposed as an innovative chemical inhibitor to absorb and neutralize acetic acid by converting it into ammonium acetate through an acid/base reaction.

Photoaffinity labeling coupled to MS to identify peptide biological partners: Secondary reactions, for better or for worse?

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Affinity photolabeling is a smart method to study noncovalent and transient interactions and provide a submolecular picture of the contacts between interacting partners. In this review, we will focus on the identification of peptide partners using photoaffinity labeling coupled to mass spectrometry in different contexts such as in vitro with a

Rapid determination of cholesterol in milk and milk products by direct saponification and capillary gas chromatography.

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1998
A simple method is described for the determination of cholesterol in milk and milk products. Samples (0.2 g) are saponified in capped tubes with 0.5 M methanolic KOH solution by heating for 15 min at 80 degrees C.

Intratracheal Administration of Nanoplastics With Varying Surface Hydrophobicity Results in Coarsely Vacuolated Alveolar Macrophages, Transient Respiratory Inflammation, and Mild Collagen Deposition

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Nanoplastic hydrophobicity drives adverse effects in the lung. Single intratracheal administration of poly(vinyl acetate‐co‐alcohol) nanoplastics with varying surface hydrophobicity shows that the more hydrophobic nanoplastics increase prevalence of coarsely vacuolated alveolar macrophages, induce transient respiratory inflammation and mild collagen ...
