Development of immunocompetent models for primary and metastatic ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study explores syngeneic, immunocompetent models of ER+ breast cancer in 129S6/SvEv mice, using trackable tumor cells to model both primary tumors and metastasis. The models show promise, while also revealing limitations for studying advanced disease and immune interactions.

Saponins in pollen [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) extracts of pollen of 34 out of 95 angiosperm species (in 40 families) tested, lysed human and/or snake head fish (Channa striatus Bloch) erythrocytes during assay for lectins in pollen.

From Marginal to Central: Marginal Zone‐like B Cells as Critical Targets in Cladribine‐Treated Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease where B cells play a central pathogenic role. Cladribine, an oral therapy, provides durable benefits by reshaping lymphocyte populations, yet its specific long‐term impact on distinct B‐cell subsets is not fully understood.

TRITERPENOID SAPONINS FROM ANEMONE-HUPEHENSIS LEMOINE

open access: yes, 1994
Five triterpenoid saponins were isolated from the alcoholic extracts of Anemone hupehensis Lemoine. Three new saponins, named hupehensis saponins A(S3), B(S4), and C(S5), were identified on the basis of spectral data and chemical methods.

Hyperacute Interleukin‐1β Production and Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation in the Cerebral Circulation of Stroke Patients with Large Vessel Occlusion

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion is associated with rapid intravascular immune activation. Analysis of arterial blood sampled distal to the thrombus during mechanical thrombectomy revealed increased extracellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and interleukin‐1β (IL‐1β) levels, evidence of inflammasome priming in monocytes, and ...

Lipase-catalyzed regioselective acylation of diosgenyl saponins

open access: yes, 2001
Diosgenyl saponins were regio selectively acylated by Novozyme 435 with vinyl esters as acylating agents in THF to afford the corresponding mono- or diacyl diosgenyl saponins. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.

Homo-aro-cholestane, furostane and spirostane saponins from the tubers of Ophiopogon japonicus

open access: yes, 2017
Phytochemical investigation of the tubers of Ophiopogon japonicus led to the isolation of five previously undescribed steroidal saponins, ophiojaponins A-E, together with twelve known ones.

Aquafaba (Chickpea Cooking Water) as a Natural Emulsifier in the Development of Plant‐Based Coffee Whitener

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, the possibility of using aquafaba powder, derived from chickpea cooking water, as a natural emulsifier in the formulation of plant‐based coffee whitener was evaluated. For this purpose, coffee whiteners, which are emulsion type products, are obtained by high‐shear mixing followed by high‐pressure homogenization of the aqueous ...

Recent advances in the anti-tumor activities of saponins through cholesterol regulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Abnormal cholesterol metabolism has become a popular therapeutic target in cancer therapy. In recent years there has been a surge in interest in the anti-tumor activities of saponins, particularly their ability to disrupt cholesterol homeostasis in tumor
