During 2009–2018, four adenovirus, 10 astrovirus, 123 rotavirus, and 107 sapovirus gastroenteritis outbreaks were reported to the US National Outbreak Reporting System (annual median 30 outbreaks).

DETECTION OF SAPOVIRUS IN BRAZILIAN PIG FARMS
Sapoviruses ( Caliciviridae ) are considered important agents of gastroenteritis worldwide affecting animals and humans. In pig farming, the epidemiology is not completely understood because it can affect all stages of production, with symptomatic (diarrhea) or asymptomatic pigs. The aim of our study was to investigate Sapovirus occurrence in Brazilian

Emergence of intragenotype recombinant sapovirus in Japan
Sapovirus is an important causative agent of sporadic cases as well as of outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis in humans worldwide. A total of 603 fecal specimens collected from July 2005 to June 2006 from children with acute gastroenteritis in five localities in Japan (Maizuru, Tokyo, Sapporo, Saga, and Osaka) were screened for sapovirus by RT-PCR.

Background Sapovirus is one of the principal agents of acute viral enteritis in children. Because it has not been routinely included in diagnostic evaluations, the epidemiology and natural history remain poorly described.

Molecular characterization of sapovirus from children with gastroenteritis in Botswana
Sapoviruses are an important cause of acute viral gastroenteritis in children. The objective of this study was to determine the burden and genetic diversity of sapoviruses in children hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis in Botswana between 2016 and ...

Sapovirus Outbreaks in Long-Term Care Facilities, Oregon and Minnesota, USA, 2002–2009
We tested fecal samples from 93 norovirus-negative gastroenteritis outbreaks; 21 outbreaks were caused by sapovirus. Of these, 71% were caused by sapovirus genogroup IV and 66% occurred in long-term care facilities.

Expression of sapovirus virus-like particles in mammalian cells [PDF]
Sapovirus (SaV) is an etiological agent of acute gastroenteritis in human and swine. SaV can be divided into five genogroups, GI to GV. Virus-like particles (VLPs) morphologically similar to native SaV have been expressed for GI, GII, GIII and GV strains in insect cells, although only low expression levels were observed for GII strains.

Intergenogroup Recombination in Sapoviruses
Sapovirus, a member of the family Caliciviridae, is an etiologic agent of gastroenteritis in humans and pigs. Analyses of the complete genome sequences led us to identify the first sapovirus intergenogroup recombinant strain. Phylogenetic analysis of the

We devised a reverse genetics system to generate an infectious human sapovirus (HuSaV) GII.3 virus. Capped/uncapped full-length RNAs derived from HuSaV GII.3 AK11 strain generated by in vitro transcription were used to transfect HuTu80 human duodenum ...
