Organic leaching and metal removal with Sargassum filipendula [PDF]
The biosorption process with algae is usually carried out with a concomitant alginate leaching process. Alginate is identified as the main functional group, responsible for generating the most active sites. Biomass chemical and thermal pretreatment is an

The Effects of Fucoidan Derived from Sargassum filipendula and Fucus vesiculosus on the Survival and Mineralisation of Osteogenic Progenitors. [PDF]
Osteosarcoma is a bone cancer primarily affecting teenagers. It has a poor prognosis and diminished quality of life after treatment due to chemotherapy side effects, surgical complications and post-surgical osteoporosis risks. The sulphated polysaccharide fucoidan, derived from brown algae, has been a subject of interest for its potential anti-cancer ...

A Study on the Potential of Valorizing Sargassum latifolium into Biofuels and Sustainable Value-Added Products. [PDF]
To increase the limited commercial utility and lessen the negative environmental effects of the massive growth of brown macroalgae, this work illustrates the feasibility of valorizing the invasively proliferated Sargassum latifolium into different value‐added products.

Biosorption of lead by the brown seaweed Sargassum filipendula - batch and continuous pilot studies [PDF]
The biosorption of lead by the brown alga Sargassum filipendula was studied. pH 4.0 was the optimum value for the biosorption of lead. Isotherms indicated that for solutions containing 0.03 ± 0.001 up to 3.27 ± 0.04 mmol/L of lead, 2.0g/L was the optimum biomass concentration.
