Biosorption study of Ni2+ and Cr3+ by Sargassum filipendula: kinetics and equilibrium [PDF]
In this work, the biosorption of Cr3+ and Ni2+ by Sargassum filipendula pre-treated with CaCl2 was studied. Kinetic and equilibrium experiments were carried out for mono- and multi-component solutions in a batch reactor at pH 3.0 and 30 oC. The results from the kinetic experiments showed that Cr3+ adsorbs slower than Ni2+.

Modification of fucoidan from Sargassum filipendula by sulfate enrichment and its antioxidant activity [PDF]
Antioxidant activities of fucoidan in different level of sulfate contents were examined. The sulfate content of fucoidan was enriched by means of sulfonation of fucoidan crude extract from Sargassum filipendula brown-seaweed using sulphur trioxide-pyridine complex reagents.

Characterization of the Residue from Double Alginate Extraction from Sargassum filipendula Seaweed
Residue of alginate extraction from Sargassum filipendula brown seaweed shows high potential to be applied as bioadsorbent for the removal of heavy metals from contaminated wastewater, since it contains some constituents of the raw algae.

Organic leaching and metal removal with Sargassum filipendula [PDF]
The biosorption process with algae is usually carried out with a concomitant alginate leaching process. Alginate is identified as the main functional group, responsible for generating the most active sites. Biomass chemical and thermal pretreatment is an

Sargassum filipendula is a marine macroalgae, also known as brown algae. These species contain significant amounts of polysaccharides, such as alginates, and phenolic compounds, including phlorotannins, with excellent biological properties. This study evaluated the extraction of bioactive compounds from the residual biomass of Sargassum filipendula ...
