Synthesis of Fe3O4 Nanocatalyst Capped Citric Acid (Fe3O4-CA) from Sargassum filipendula

open access: yesALKIMIA : Jurnal Ilmu Kimia dan Terapan, 2022
The nanocatalyst Fe3O4 capped citric acid (Fe3O4-CA) was successfully synthesized using brown seaweed Sargassum filipendula. Sulfated polysaccharides contained in Sargassum filipendula extract contain sulfate, hydroxy, and aldehyde groups which cause Fe3+ reduction and nanoparticle stabilization.

Characterization of the Residue from Double Alginate Extraction from Sargassum filipendula Seaweed

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2016
Residue of alginate extraction from Sargassum filipendula brown seaweed shows high potential to be applied as bioadsorbent for the removal of heavy metals from contaminated wastewater, since it contains some constituents of the raw algae.

Kinetic Adsorption of Copper Ions by the Residue of Alginate Extraction from the Seaweed Sargassum Filipendula

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
This study focuses on the removal of Cu2+ ions present in low concentration in aqueous solutions using residue of alginate extraction as bioadsorbent from the brown seaweed Sargassum filipendula. Bioadsorption kinetic experiments were carried out at room

Batch and fixed-bed column biosorption of manganese ion by Sargassum filipendula [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology, 2011
This paper presents experimental data of the biosorption of manganese onto Sargassum filipendula in both batch and fixed-bed column systems. Batch equilibrium data were used for nonlinear fittings of the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. A mathematical model based on mass balances in the fluid and in the sorbent was applied to represent the ...

Zinc(II) desorption by Sargassum filipendula biomass in batch and in fixed-bed column for multiple sorption-regeneration cycles

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2009
The reusability of the alga Sargassum filipendula was studied in batch reactor and in fixed-bed column in order to investigate Zn(II)-laden biomass regeneration. Four types of desorbing solutions at two different concentrations were tested and the results obtained to the desorption efficiencies were higher than 90% for three of the agents.

Effect the seaweed Sargassum filipendula and Ascophyllum nodosum on the resistance of the shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei to hypothermal shock

open access: yesBoletim do Instituto de Pesca
This study investigated the resistance of Pacific white shrimp (L. vannamei) to hypothermal shock when treated with extracts from the brown seaweeds Sargassum filipendula and Ascophyllum nodosum, either by immersion for postlarvae or as a dietary ...

Equilibrium of Cu(II) and Ni(II) biosorption by marine alga Sargassum filipendula in a dynamic system: Competitiveness and selectivity

open access: yesBioresource Technology, 2011
The study focuses on the equilibrium of dynamic biosorption in single and binary systems containing Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions using Sargassum filipendula (a marine alga). The experiments were performed in fixed-bed columns with both single-component and bi-component metal solutions (using different molar concentrations). Experimental data were fitted with

Macroalgae Improve the Growth and Physiological Health of White Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
This study compared and evaluated the effects of nine native macroalgae species on the tropic coast of China on the growth and physiological health performance of white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Nine hundred juvenile shrimps weighing 1.6 ± 0.02 g were fed with nine different types of macroalgae for 28 days. The experimental groups were as follows:
