Naturally‐occurring nematicides of plant origin: two decades of novel chemistries

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 2, Page 540-571, February 2025.
A review of structure–activity correlations for 262 plant‐derived nematicidal compounds for controlling plant parasitic nematodes is presented. Chemical structures, sources, and isolation procedures are summarized based on the major chemical groups. Abstract Plant‐parasitic nematodes are among the most destructive plant pathogens, resulting in a global

Non‐native invasive plants in tropical dry forests: a global review of presence, impacts, and management

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 1, January 2025.
Tropical dry forests (TDF) are among the most‐threatened terrestrial ecosystems, experiencing ongoing conversion to agricultural fields, pasture, and human settlements. Human disturbances are often precursors to invasion of ecosystems by non‐native species, but research on invasion patterns in tropical ecosystems is sparse, and there is no ...

The Role of Geography, Diet, and Host Phylogeny on the Gut Microbiome in the Hawaiian Honeycreeper Radiation

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2024.
We investigated the roles of diet, geography, and genetic relatedness on the composition of the gut microbiome of an adaptive radiation of island birds. Using metabarcoding data, we determined that microbiome variation across birds was highly individualized; however, source island had a small but significant effect on microbiome structure. ABSTRACT The
