Inflammatory biomarkers do not distinguish between patients with sciatica and referred leg pain within a primary care population: results from a nested study within the ATLAS cohort

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2019
Background There is increasing interest in the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the pathogenesis of sciatica and whether these could be potential targets for treatment.

Extra-spinal sciatica and sciatica mimics: a scoping review

open access: yesThe Korean Journal of Pain, 2020
Not all sciatica-like manifestations are of lumbar spine origin. Some of them are caused at points along the extra-spinal course of the sciatic nerve, making diagnosis difficult for the treating physician and delaying adequate treatment. While evaluating a patient with sciatica, straightforward diagnostic conclusions are impossible without first ...

A Humanized Anti‐gD Broadly Neutralizing Antibody Confers Complete Post‐Exposure Protection against Pseudorabies Virus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pseudorabies virus (PRV), an emerging zoonotic α‐herpesvirus, causes life‐threatening human encephalitis. We identified a broad‐spectrum neutralizing antibody 6F7 targeting PRV gD. It blocks gD‐Nectin‐1 binding and membrane fusion, inhibiting replication across all PRV variants, representing a promising candidate for anti‐PRV therapy.

The Clinical Efficacy of High‐Voltage Long‐Duration Pulsed Radiofrequency Treatment in Pudendal Neuralgia: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesNeuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface, EarlyView., 2021
Abstract Background Patients with pudendal neuralgia (PN) experience long‐lasting chronic pain, hyperalgesia, and comorbid emotional disorders, such as depression and anxiety. Treatment via conventional pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) current carries a significantly high rate of failure.

Electrically Evoked Compound Action Potentials in Spinal Cord Stimulation: Implications for Preclinical Research Models

open access: yesNeuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface, EarlyView., 2021
Abstract Objectives The study aimed to assess the feasibility of recording electrically evoked compound action potentials (ECAPs) from the rat spinal cord. To achieve this, we characterized electrophysiological responses of dorsal column (DC) axons from electrical stimulation and quantified the relationship between ECAP and motor thresholds (ECAPTs and
