Piperazine Derivatives Attenuate Scopolamine‐Induced Memory Deficits by Modulating Neuroinflammation and Oxidative Stress via the NF‐κB/TNF‐α/COX‐2 Pathway

ChemistrySelect
Oxidative stress‐induced neuro‐inflammatory events are common in neurodegenerative illnesses, addressing neuro‐inflammation and oxidative distress could be an effective approach for ameliorating the typical effects associated with scopolamine‐induced ...

Bone Marrow-Derived Endothelial Progenitor Cells Protect Against Scopolamine-Induced Alzheimer-Like Pathological Aberrations

Molecular Neurobiology, 2014
Vascular endothelial dysfunction plays a key role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Patients with AD have displayed decreased circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) which repair and maintain the endothelial function. Transplantation of EPCs has emerged as a promising approach for the management of cerebrovascular diseases ...

Sea Cucumber-Derived Peptide Attenuates Scopolamine-Induced Cognitive Impairment by Preventing Hippocampal Cholinergic Dysfunction and Neuronal Cell Death

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2022
The incidence of neurodegenerative diseases related to cognitive decline and memory loss is on the rise as the global elderly population increases. In this study, we evaluated the effect of the sea cucumber-derived peptide Phe-Tyr-Asp-Trp-Pro-Lys (FYDWPK) on scopolamine-induced neurotoxicity in an animal model.

In Vitro and In Vivo Investigations of Chromone Derivatives as Potential Multitarget-Directed Ligands: Cognitive Amelioration Utilizing a Scopolamine-Induced Zebrafish Model.

ACS Chemical Neuroscience
Alzheimer's disease is a complex neurological disorder linked with multiple pathological hallmarks. The interrelation of therapeutic targets assists in the enhancement of cognitive decline through interference with overall neuronal transmission.

Substituted Aminobenzothiazole Derivatives of Tacrine: Synthesis and Study on Learning and Memory Impairment in Scopolamine-Induced Model of Amnesia in Rat.

Mini-Reviews in Medical Chemistry, 2018
BACKGROUND Currently, there is no conclusive cure for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and existing treatments mainly offer symptomatic relief. Dysfunction of the cholinergic system plays an important role in the pathogenesis of AD.

Somaclonal Variation of Scopolamine Content in Protoplast-Derived Cell Culture Clones ofHyoscyamus muticus

Planta Medica, 1986
We have established clonal cell cultures derived from protoplasts of haploid and diploid Hyoscyamus muticus L. var. Gatersleben (Solanaceae) plants. The scopolamine content of plants and the clones was determined by sensitive enzyme- and radioimmunoassay. Variation in scopolamine content was significant among whole plants.

Scopolamine Derivatives as Potential Pharmaceuticals with Calixarene-CyclodextrineNanosponges as Drug Carriers [PDF]

open access: possible, 2017
Tropane alkaloids are molecules with a strong biological activity, which are mainly produced by the members offamily Solanaceae, but also found inother plant families (Convolvulaceae, Brasicaceae, Erythroxylaceae andEuphorbiaceae).1 More than 20 active pharmaceutical substances containingthetropane moiety have been industrially produced and applied as ...

A novel chalcone derivative as Nrf2 activator attenuates learning and memory impairment in a scopolamine-induced mouse model

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2020
Alzheimer's disease is a common neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive degeneration and neuronal cell death, resulting in neural network dysfunction. As the underlying mechanisms, oxidative damage and neuroinflammation have been reported to contribute to the onset and deterioration of Alzheimer's disease.

Arginine-Containing Peptides Derived from Walnut Protein Against Cognitive and Memory Impairment in Scopolamine-Induced Zebrafish: Design, Release, and Neuroprotection

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2022
The purpose of this study was to investigate the neuroprotective effect of Arg-containing peptides from walnut storage protein sequences in scopolamine-induced zebrafish and further to validate the potential neuroprotection of Arg-containing peptide enriched walnut hydrolysates prepared by in silico hydrolysis and controlled enzymatic release.
