Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Assessing the Impact of Characteristics of the Test, Common-items, and Examinees on the Preservation of Equity Properties in Mixed-format Test Equating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Preservation of equity properties was examined using four equating methods - IRT True Score, IRT Observed Score, Frequency Estimation, and Chained Equipercentile - in a mixed-format test under a common-item nonequivalent groups (CINEG) design.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Bootstrap correcting the score test [PDF]

open access: yes
The Lagrange multiplier test, or score test, suggested independently by Aitchison and Silvey (1958) and Rao (1948), tests for parametric restrictions. Although the score test is an intuitively appealing and often used procedure, the exact distribution of

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Permanent Income and the Black-White Test Score Gap [PDF]

open access: yes
Analysts often examine the black-white test score gap conditional on family income. Typically only a current income measure is available. We argue that the gap conditional on permanent income is of greater interest, and we describe a method for ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

A note on the relationship between the information matrx test and a score test for parameter constancy [PDF]

open access: yes
Information matrix (IM) test (White, 1982) has been used for detecting general model misspecification in the applied econometrics literature. Two of the most commonly used asymptotic covariance matrix estimators (ACMEs) for the IM test are the one that ...
