1992Huangqin, Radix Scutellariae, is the dry roots of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi (Lamiaceae), which is collected in spring and fall. It is officially listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia and is one of the most widely used Chinese herbal medicines against bacterial infections of the respiratory and the gastrointestinal tract.

Identification of flavonoids in the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi
Journal of Chromatography B, 2011Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi (S. baicalensis), a perennial herb of the Labiatae family, is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine. In the present study, a comprehensive qualitative analysis of flavonoids in the stems and leaves of S. baicalensis was performed. Under the optimized experimental conditions, 21 flavonoids were clearly detected.

Anticonvulsant effect of wogonin isolated from Scutellaria baicalensis
European Journal of Pharmacology, 2007In previous studies, we identified sedative effects of Scutellaria baicalensis extracts and found that these extracts or their constituents may also have anticonvulsive effects.
