Ocean Surface Anomalies after Strong Winds in the Western Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
The Western Mediterranean Sea is often subject to intense winds, especially during the winter season. Intense winds induce surface cooling associated with anomalous ocean heat loss, upwelling and diapycnal mixing. In this study we investigate the overall

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

A global climatology of the diurnal variations in sea-surface temperature and implications for MSU temperature trends [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A global climatology of diurnal variations in sea-surface temperature based on in situ drifting-buoy data has been created. The diurnal warming signal derived from these data correlates well with estimates from a version of the Stuart-Menteth (2004 ...

Roughness Analysis of Sea Surface From Visible Images by Texture

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper presents a roughness analysis of sea surface from visible images by feature measurements of texture for the first time. The algorithms presented in this paper include six texture feature measurements of sea surface use gray level co-occurrence

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Annual amphidromes: a common feature in the ocean? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The scientific term "amphidrome" is usually associated with tides in oceanography. The dozen tidal amphidromes observed in the ocean are critical points that determine the fundamental pattern of the global tidal system.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Impact of Variable Atmospheric and Oceanic Form Drag on Simulations of Arctic Sea Ice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Over Arctic sea ice, pressure ridges and floe and melt pond edges all introduce discrete obstructions to the flow of air or water past the ice and are a source of form drag.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Surveying sea surface effect in satellite altimeter-derived wind speed

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, 2016
To improve sea surface wind speed in coastal regions, we used nadir satellite altimeter measurements in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea. With combining normalized radar cross section for two bands of satellite altimeter measurements and significant wave
