Families of Frobenius seaweed Lie algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We extend the set of known infinite families of Frobenius seaweed Lie subalgebras of $\mathfrak{sl}_{n}$ to include a family which is the first non-trivial general family containing algebras whose associated meanders have an arbitrarily large number of parts.

Bermuda's Legacy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Sargasso Sea is one of the great ecological wonders of the world; on its surface floats a "golden rainforest" as teeming with colorful life as a coral reef. It remains much as it was when first described by Christopher Columbus in 1492. Plants, fish,

Exotic asphyxiation: interactions between invasive species and hypoxia

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 98, Issue 1, Page 150-167, February 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT Non‐indigenous species (NIS) and hypoxia (<2 mg O2 l−1) can disturb and restructure aquatic communities. Both are heavily influenced by human activities and are intensifying with global change. As these disturbances increase, understanding how they interact to affect native species and systems is essential.

Recommendations for built marine infrastructure that supports natural habitats

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
The extent of built marine infrastructure—from energy infrastructure and ports to artificial reefs and aquaculture—is increasing globally. The rise in built structure coverage is concurrent with losses and degradation of many natural habitats. Although historically associated with net negative impacts on natural systems, built infrastructure—with ...

Conservation status, research, and knowledge of seagrass habitats in World Heritage properties

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 4, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
This study assesses the relative importance of seagrass habitats toward the values of World Heritage properties and reviews the current knowledge about the conservation status, threats, monitoring, and management of seagrass habitats within WH properties. We highlight the lack of research, monitoring, reporting, and management instrument addressing the

Mapping the impacts of multiple stressors on the decline in kelps along the coast of Victoria, Australia

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 29, Issue 1, Page 199-220, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Aim Kelp forests throughout temperate regions of the world serve as foundation species that play a critical role in sustaining the health and function of marine ecosystems but are experiencing declines in abundance due to a loss in resilience as the ocean climate changes.

Report on Gamma-Ray Analysis of Seaweed Samples from Naturespirit Herbs LLC [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Five seaweed samples from Naturespirit Herbs LLC were counted using low-background high-resolution gamma-ray detectors to search for evidence of contamination from the Fukushima reactor accident. No evidence of Cs-134 was observed in any of the samples.
